The Didcot and District Citizens Advice Bureau (UK, 1104233) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Didcot CAB serves the towns of Didcot and Wallingford and the surrounding villages. We can help to find solutions to the problems that often seem impossible for those worrying about them. Not just the answers to the immediate problem but very often answers that are able to unlock solutions on a wider front. It might be the strength to kick an addiction or timely advice to prevent re-offending. We are an independent charity and have to work very hard to secure funding. Often funds do not go far enough or are only for the short term. You can help to support us by making a donation towards our general service or supporting one of our fundraising appeals.  The Citizens Advice service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. The service aims to provide the advice people need for the problems they face, and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

YTD Raised: £0.00

Virgin Money has chosen AgeUK and YouthNet as its Charities of the Year and is proud to support them as they work to improve lives for older and younger people - reducing isolation and loneliness across the generations. Imagine feeling cut off, that you simply don’t count and that no one cares about you. This is the reality for millions of older and younger people in our society today. 1 million older people in the UK go for over a month without speaking to a friend, relative or neighbour. 5 million older people consider television as their main source of company. Around one million young people are currently not in education, employment and training. With growing levels of youth homelessness and mental health issues, young people are at risk of becoming a lost generation. Money raised through this exciting new partnership with Virgin Money will support Age UK and YouthNet to reduce loneliness and isolation by providing life changing support to older and young people in Virgin Money’s local communities and across the UK. Thank you for supporting this partnership. With your help we can really make a difference.  For more information about the charities, please visit our websites; www.ageuk.org.uk and www.youthnet.org. The Oaks Counselling Service (UK, 1148394) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Oaks Counselling Service provides affordable, professional counselling for individuals and couples in the Poole and Bournemouth locality.   People suffering from bereavement, fear, anger, depression, relationship difficulties etc. can be helped to live their lives with a greater level of freedom. We passionately want to see people overcome their difficulties, and come to a place of permanent, positive change. Our experience tells us that counselling can help improve their enjoyment of life and restore their sense of well-being. As a charity, we aim that no one in need be turned away for lack of money, and we fund raise in order to provide a bursary. We keep our costs to a minimum, but it still costs £25 to provide one counselling session. Many of the people we see can only afford to pay £5-£10; this is why the bursary, and the money people give to support it, is so important. We love to see how people's lives turn around as they have the opportunity to take an honest look at their lives in a supportive environment. So a huge thank you for considering supporting the work we do!

From our centre in central Watford about 118 volunteers provide a free telephone, email, personal visitor and outreach service to a population of more than 600,000 people. It costs about £80 per day to keep our centre operating; if we paid for the volunteer time at the national average wage , it would cost more than £700 per day. Dore Foundation (UK, 1096562) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Dore Foundation aims to improve the lives of people who have difficulties with learning. It is a grant giving organisation with a particular focus on supporting early interventions for children with special educational needs (SEN). As such, it works collaboratively with schools and other partners to provide access to the Dore Programme, a personalised programme of daily physical exercises for people with learning difficulties and SEN such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and ADHD. It is estimated that one in five of us struggle to learn. The pressures to belong and to achieve are consistently promoted, yet the gulf between those who have difficulties with learning and everyone else is still evident. Today’s educational system isn’t working for a significant number of children, many of whom lack the support or resources to do anything about it. We want to help bridge the gap wherever we can to provide real support for those in need and give children the opportunity to achieve and a belief in their own ability.

Exhausted Carers need a break.A significant number of such Carers provide more than 50 hours of care every week, and without the services of Crossroads Care they may never get a regular break to have some time to themsevles. Many other Carers, who may not do as many hours each week, have been caring for someone seven days a week for up to 10 years or more.
