Partnership For Children (UK, 1089810) Browse events

YTD Raised: £40.00

Partnership for Children helps children to be mentally and emotionally healthy, just as sport and good food help them to be physically healthy. We focus on young children, producing resources and training for their parents and teachers. We run Zippy’s Friends, one of the world’s most successful mental health promotion programmes, now helping children in schools from Surrey to Sao Paolo to Shanghai. We are trialling new resources for children with learning disabilities, and we also produce Good Books for Tough Times, recommending storybooks to help children facing bereavement, bullying or family break-up. In all our work, we help children develop the skills they need to deal with difficulties, so that they will be better able to cope with problems and crises as teenagers and adults. It’s great value for money - about £2 for each child who completes Zippy’s Friends - and while we’re big enough to be effective, we’re small enough for your support to make a real difference. Please help us to promote good mental health for children - for life.

Birmingham Citizens Advice Bureau Service Ltd (UK, 519639) Browse events

YTD Raised: £35.00

We are the Charity for the Community. We help people from all walks of life by providing advice on many issues; employment, consumer, debt, benefits, health, tax, housing and immigration. This year is our 75th Anniversary - we were established the day after World War Two broke out. In those days, we helped to trace missing relatives, and gave advice on rationing. Our volunteers pulled together to help neighbours and friends, and we operated from a horse box, as there was nowhere else available! This commitment still remains today. From the debt issues in the 1980’s, to the complex benefit systems today, we are always on hand to assist the community with the issues that matter most. We are the first place people in Birmingham go when they do not know where to turn. Many of our clients are in crisis, and can be at risk of losing their homes, jobs or families. Our advice can mean the difference between putting food on the table, or going hungry. We also help sections of society in special need - people affected by cancer come to us for advice on how to financially adjust, people with mental health issues come to us for help with complicated forms and procedures. We provide advice at a time when people need it most, and empower them so that they can lead a better quality of life. Our advice changes lives. We are: independent, impartial, confidential and free. Last year, we helped over 30,000 people, which was achieved with the help of our 230 passionate volunteers. We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. Our mission is to provide free, accurate, relevant and helpful advice, to all those who seek our assistance, in a safe, non-discriminatory environment.
