Eating Disorder Service (EDS) has been offering a comprehensive range of care to sufferers in our local communities since 1995. We are a registered charity funded by local health commissioning groups to support those with a recognisable eating disorder. EDS is the only integrated community service in S Devon that offers short to medium-termed psychotherapy plus specialist dietetic input for people age 18+. In order to improve access for localities outside Plymouth, we also see clients in 3 outposts in various S Devon locations. EDS work closely with statutory health services to provide safe & thoughtful packages of care for our clients & their carers/families. We process around 300 referrals per year and work with 50 - 60 clients per week offering different levels of therapy input tailored to individuals' needs.

(UK, 1127779) Browse eventsLifecentre is a Sussex based charity providing help to child and adult survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their families. A quarter of those we help are under 18, the youngest just 5 years old. Sexual abuse has a devastating effect on lives. Over half of our clients think regularly of suicide; two thirds are depressed. A significant number self harm or over-eat in an attempt to make themselves less attractive; others turn to drugs or alcohol to block out painful memories. Not surprisingly normal daily routines become difficult or impossible. There are no quick fixes, but healing does come with expert help and time. We see survivors able to sleep again, returning to employment, school, their hobbies and families; survivors getting justice through the courts; survivors transforming their shame and despair into purpose for life. Referrals for counselling have risen every year since we started in 2001. In 2013 we expect to have over 350 referrals and get over 14,000 calls, texts and emails to our helplines. We do all this for less that £250,000 a year - roughly the cost to society of three rapes. Less than 10% of these costs are met by government grants. Thank you for your support which will make a real difference. * Please note that the registered address is not the location of our offices and counselling rooms which are all in a confidential location. Mail can be safely sent to this registered address for collection, however.

We were established over 20 years ago by a group of qualified counsellors as a way of providing access to a counselling service for those who might not otherwise be able to afford it.We are now a team of 32 in all with 22 counsellors, all fully trained and qualified who volunteer their time to provide valuable counselling to those who need help and can benefit positively so that they may return to a full and happy life. We offer a discreet and friendly service where client confidentiality is our number one priority Last year we delivered over 2,500 counselling hours to clients although we receive no direct funding from any statutory or public bodies, and over 80% of our clients are referrals from local GP surgeries as at present there is no NHS provision in the north of Hampshire for counselling. They do this because of our excellent reputation and professional service. So, as you can see your help is really vital for us to continue to deliver the wonderful support we give to those who come to us seeking help with a range of issues including, work place stress, depression, financial difficulties, relationship issues, bereavement, substance and alcohol dependency and all forms of abuse. It is only through donations that we are able to sustain the valuable work we do and with the added benefit of Gift Aid, you pledge will go even further.
