The Friends Of The Spafford Children's Center Of Jerusalem (UK, 802351) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,000.00

FSCC raises money for the advancement of the charitable work carried out at the Spafford Childrens Center of Jerusalem. The Spafford Children’s Center provides healthcare for some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. The Center was founded nearly 100 years ago by an American, Bertha Spafford Vester, and is still supported today by her descendants. Based on humanitarian values, the Center gives help to those in need regardless of race, religion or cultural background. Lack of progress towards peace in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian territories aggravates the stress and trauma felt by families of the region. Innocent children, caught up in the conflict, experience violence and discrimination, as well as isolation from friends and family because of Israel’s Separation Wall and imposed travel restrictions between East Jerusalem and the West Bank. The children we care for are the link to a future where we hope for change, peace and opportunity for all. They deserve our best efforts on their behalf, which is why we have designed a unique holistic approach to child health by involving our medical, psychological, social work and educational practitioners in the diagnosis of each child’s health and emotional problems. The current situation with high unemployment and a depressed economy means that many families in need cannot afford even our small fees for treatment – we need your support to help fund a child or his/her mother through treatment. Thank you for your support!

The British Home. (UK, 206222) Browse events

YTD Raised: £1,919.81

The British Home is a charity that cares for severely disabled adults. It provides 24 hour professional nursing care for 100 residents. Most residents are wheelchair users with disabilities caused by illnesses such as multiple sclerosis and stroke. Some have acquired brain injury, others have been injured through accidents or crime. Residents have modern and spacious single rooms and are cared for as individuals with unique and specific needs. They are encouraged to make decisions and keep as much control as possible over their lives. Providing residents with the skilled nursing they depend on is extremely costly. Most of our residents need expensive, highly specialised equipment so that they can live in comfort and dignity. Most residents at the Home receive funding from local and health authorities, but we still have to raise at least £180 a week per person to cover our full costs. Legacies are a vital source of support and help us to afford the equipment our residents need. Donations enable us to provide a full programme of leisure activities that help people to enjoy their lives again. Can you help? If you can remember us in your Will or make a donation it would make a real and direct difference to the lives of people with severe disabilities. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Transplant Patients Trust (UK, 1007809) Browse events

YTD Raised: £1,889.00

Rather stupidly we've decided that we are fit enough to run a half marathon on behalf of the Transplant Patients Trust. There are approx. 20 people running (some willingly, some un-willingly) but they have decided to do it for a good cause. Earlier this year we helped the family of a very poorly little girl who has been awaiting a heart transplant since January of this year. Her family, unable to leave her side had no choice but to give up work and consequently are struggling financially. We helped. Without the kind generosity (and sacrifices) of our runners and you the people supporting us we would be unable to provide this kind of help. Please give generously - whatever you can. Any amounts will be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks The Transplant Patients Trust xx
