We are a local branch of the RSPCA, run entirely by volunteers. We operate within the guidelines of the National RSPCA, but we are responsible for raising all the funds we need to operate in our local area. We take in the most needy animals that have suffered neglect, cruelty and abuse, and help to find them loving, permanent homes. Our animals are housed in foster homes or private barding establishments, we do not have our own animal centre.

Woodside’s countryside sanctuary cares for and re-homes over 1200 unwanted and abused pets annually. All types of companion animals are taken in, with the exception of exotics and cage birds. A small number of hand reared farm animals and ex- battery hens have free range of our fields and our dogs enjoy daily walks in the adjacent forest. No animals are destroyed unless they are beyond veterinary help or dangerous. Animals not chosen for adoption, due to age or infirmity, remain in homely, special care units such as Dunroamin and The Mews. These much loved residents are given full medical care and have an extended family of dedicated staff and volunteers. Aware that simply re-cycling animals is not enough, Woodside has an enthusiastic approach to spaying and neutering, and offers an assisted spay scheme for owners on benefit. This service is especially promoted in deprived areas, by experienced staff through a welfare round. During these visits, vulnerable animals are often released into our care. The adoption of all pets is taken very seriously with pre and post home-checks, and follow up visits if felt necessary. It is mandatory that adopted pets are returned to the sanctuary if they can no longer be kept within the family. None of the above work could be achieved without the generosity of the general public, and our Founder and Administrator, Carole Bowles, who was made an MBE in 2000 for over forty years of unpaid service to animal welfare. When funds are low, services have to be scaled down, so every effort is made to generate, extra income via our charity shops, fund-raising volunteers, newsletters and appeals. Anyone who supports Woodside can be assured that funds raised are used to improve the lives of pets in need.

The aim of the Sussex Wildlife Trust is to conserve Sussex landscape, wildlife and its habitats and to use its knowledge and expertise to help the people of Sussex to enjoy, understand and take action.
We are a small charity working on the island of Corfu. Our aim is to improve the life of the stray cats and other animals on the island by neutering using the "trap/neuter/return" method. We treat for ticks, fleas and worms and give medication to stray animals with illnesses or injuries. If absolutely (and only if absolutely) necessary we will see that animals are humanely put to sleep to prevent further suffering if no further help can be given. We set up feeding stations and provide food during the winter months and have a few small recovery centres all run by our volunteers. We concentrate our efforts mainly but not exclusively on the stray cat population. Our charity also helps pets of impoverished local people. Unfortunately re-homing strays is not generally an option but sometimes we are able to re-home some of the most vulnerable animals.

Cats in Need Menorca Since 1999 Janice Bockling and a team of dedicated volunteers have been caring for homeless (feral and abandoned) cats in Menorca. The main objective is to neuter cats to prevent unwanted kittens, supported by compassionate caring, veterinary treatment and re homing where possible. There are 25 feeding stations around the island tended by volunteers, but more stations are needed. Sick and injured cats are cared for and no cat is put to sleep if it can have a decent quality of life. Although we have made enormous progress over the last 15 years, the work is ongoing and we still have much to do. The charity "Cats in Need Menorca" was founded in the UK in 2013 to support the work being done in Menorca.
