Happy Landings Animal Shelter- (UK, 287194) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,410.00

Happy Landings provides care, shelter and veterinary attention for stray, abandoned and neglected animals. We rescue, rehabilitate & rehome and provide ongoing support to new owners as required. We are first and foremost an animal shelter, although we do have a council licensed boarding facility for dogs and cats which helps to pay for the welfare work. The boarding section is very much in demand and spaces are booked very early. We no longer board rabbits, guinea pigs etc. The charity owns the 5 acre site, and is a mixed animal shelter, taking in all types of animals. We are unable to take exotics. The centre can take approximately 300 domestic and farm animals, and we re-home about 300 animals a year plus several hundred ex battery hens. The team of staff and volunteers offer shelter and hope. Happy Landings works with Dog wardens, Vets, Police, Social Services and other shelters. We are full at all times and have to work on a waiting list system with the demand for rescue spaces being very high. Many animals have to be nursed back to health and more have to be re-habilitated before carefully chosen, loving homes are found. We pride ourselves on our match-making ability and it is rare that an animal has to be returned to us.

The main objective is to neuter cats to prevent unwanted kittens, supported by compassionate caring, veterinary treatment and re homing where possible. There are 25 feeding stations around the island tended by volunteers, but more stations are needed. Sick and injured cats are cared for and no cat is put to sleep if it can have a decent quality of life. Although we have made enormous progress over the last 15 years, the work is ongoing and we still have much to do. The charity "Cats in Need Menorca" was founded in the UK in 2013 to support the work being done in Menorca.

Boxer Welfare Scotland (UK, SCO36719) Browse events

YTD Raised: £1,960.00

Boxer Welfare Scotland have rescued and re-homed over a thousand boxers throughout Scotland since we started in 2005. We rescue and re-home dogs from situations where they have been neglected or abused and where their families are just no longer able to look after and care for them properly due to a change in circumstances. We assess our dogs carefully and provide any necessary veterinary treatment before matching them to a new family including vaccination, micro-chipping and neutering/spaying. We have a dedicated team of around 50 volunteers across the whole of Scotland who commit their time, energy and love freely to our work. We only use trusted kennels or foster homes for our dogs to stay in until we are able to find them their ‘forever home’. We don’t receive any regular grants, instead relying on the generous donations of time and money from our supporters.
