Animals In Distress

YTD Raised: £0.00Animals in Distress started in 1967 and they now Support two Sanctuaries. Irlam Site has a 24hr emergency service and rescues any type of animal that needs us day or night. Wildlife is rehabilitated back to the wild. Pets that have been mistreated or just unwanted are all examined by the Vet and nursed back to health, before being neutered. Dogs are micro chipped and all animals will be found new homes. If the new adoptee no longer wants their pet or we are unhappy of the treatment the animal is having we can collect the animal as agreed in the contract. Littleborough deals with horses, donkeys, feral cats, pet pigs, sheep, goats, battery and pet chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks, pet birds of all types, chinchillas, chipmunks, owls, reptiles and wildlife. Some go to new homes or back to the wild. Some stay at the Sanctuary to live out their days. We also deal with retired and badly treated equines. The equines fear can cause them to be unpredictable with humans. A great deal of ongoing body language with the equines at the sanctuary is carried out which is very successful.

YTD Raised: £0.00F.A.I.T.H. is a progressive animal rescue centre, where animal welfare comes first. We believe that their mental health and wellbeing are as important as their physical health. Dogs are sociable animals so we have kennels where it is possible for the dogs to socialise and play together. You won’t see rows and rows of lonely stressed animals kennelled in isolation, as is often the case when visiting rescue centres, although we do have an isolation block for dogs awaiting health check clearance and veterinary treatment. We also have a communal cat house which offers ‘home-from-home’ comforts with sofas, chairs, shelving with hidey holes and a large meshed run with climbing frame, a water feature and toys. We also have isolation cabins for those needing or preferring separate accommodation. These are state of the art enclosed in inclement weather and open sided when weather is fine. Cats are vaccinated not only against flu and enteritis, but also leukaemia. We have a FULL neutering policy which includes all female puppies and kittens too. Young males are given a neutering certificate which is acted upon at five months of age. All dogs and cats are wormed, vaccinated and micro chipped, and most leave with four weeks free pet insurance. Home checks are also carried out before anyone is allowed to adopt an animal. We have a non-destruction policy, with exception to end suffering and then only on veterinary advice. No animal is “put to sleep” simply because it’s too old, too naughty or too difficult. If it’s age or behaviour make it impossible to re-home satisfactorily, then it will remain at F.A.I.T.H. for the rest of it’s life. The bulk of our work is with cats and dogs, but we have and help anything from hamsters to horses.

YTD Raised: £0.00We are a small charity working on the island of Corfu. Our aim is to improve the life of the stray cats and other animals on the island by neutering using the "trap/neuter/return" method. We treat for ticks, fleas and worms and give medication to stray animals with illnesses or injuries. If absolutely (and only if absolutely) necessary we will see that animals are humanely put to sleep to prevent further suffering if no further help can be given. We set up feeding stations and provide food during the winter months and have a few small recovery centres all run by our volunteers. We concentrate our efforts mainly but not exclusively on the stray cat population. Our charity also helps pets of impoverished local people. Unfortunately re-homing strays is not generally an option but sometimes we are able to re-home some of the most vulnerable animals.
