Founded by actress Alexandra Bastedo almost thirty years ago, the aims of the ABC Animal Sanctuary are to rescue abandoned and neglected animals and animals in distress, to provide them with the care and protection they need and, wherever possible, to find them a new home where they can be happy, safe and properly cared for. In some instances, where the animals are very old, need permanent special care or have personality disorders through ill-treatment then they are guaranteed care, protection and a home with us at the Sanctuary for the rest of their natural lives. The Sanctuary is presently home to mini-Shetland ponies, several full-size horses and ponies, cats, donkeys, goats, pigs, sheep, ducks, geese and chickens, and two peacocks. The Sanctuary frequently assists other larger animal rescue centres by accepting animals in need from them to care for and re-home and we always have a large number of cats seeking loving homes. The Sanctuary provides practical tuition and hands-on experience for students taking animal care courses, those taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and A-level science students planning careers in veterinary medicine. We regularly teach visiting schoolchildren about the importance of caring for animals and give students of animal husbandry hands-on experience with different kinds of animals. We also accept volunteers who are recuperating after brain damage and caring for the animals can be very beneficial to people suffering from depression. In all we have over 60 amazing volunteers who, between them, help care for the animals seven days a week, fifty two weeks a year. Even on Christmas day! No-one who works for the Sanctuary is paid and therefore every penny raised is spent on the welfare of our animals. The ABC Animal Sanctuary has no secure funding and depends entirely on public donations for it's existence. Further details can be found at www.abcanimalsanctuary.co.uk .

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. PETA and our affiliates around the world educate policymakers and the public about cruelty to animals and promote an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect. PETA works through public education, research, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement and protest campaigns.

About Us M.A.S. was set up in 2010 with the aim to provide a sanctuary for mistreated animals in the North East of England. In June 2012 we were granted charitable status by the Charities Commission for England & Wales. Our sancturay aims to offer a place of saftey to any animal which has been the victim of cruelty or neglect, by providing shelter and care for pets and farm animals, as well as wild animals suffering as a result of accidental injury. We will never turn any animals away. Cases of animal cruelty and neglect in the UK are increasing every year. Last year alone, the RSPCA received over 1.3 million phone calls, and the number of prosecutions rose by 20%. Behind all of these statistics are animals in need of care. We receive no government or lottery funding, and rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters. Any donation you can make will help to open our doors to mistreated, neglected, and injured animals. Please help us to help them
