YTD Raised: £0.00

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. Happy Breed Foundation was set up to award grants to people on a low income who cannot afford to care adequately for their dogand also to award grants to other small reputable, registered, dog charitieswhich are struggling financially. Happy Breed Foundation wasoriginally Mid Sussex Happy Breed Dog Rescue Society which rescued stray andunwanted dogs from the Mid Sussex area for 60 years. During this time, in the course of our rescue work, we were repeatedly asked if we could help with veterinary costs. Unfortunately, at that time, we were unable to assist because of the high running costs involved in pursuing the rescuework which absorbed all available funds. When it was decided to changedirection to a grant awarding charity, Happy Breed Foundation was formed. At our invitation, localveterinarians, with whom we have excellent relationships, inform us of clients who they believe to have a genuine need for our help. After collecting further information regarding the circumstances of each request, careful consideration is given to each case with a view to deciding if financial assistance can be given. The Freedom of Spirit Trust for Border Collies (FOSTBC) helps to promote a better understanding of the breed and its needs. We are not just a rescue kennels we also provide sanctuary to needy, old, infirm dogs or those in need of rehabilitation or a healing time. The Trust is a Charitable organisation and depends on donations to help to keep these dogs, to rehabilitate those in need, to rehome those which are capable of being rehomed and to unite everyone concerned with Border Collies to help secure the future of the breed. Situated on a farm the specially designed kennels open onto play areas and grass paddocks, all our dogs are assessed by resident behaviourists and trainers, vet checked regularly, microchipped, and vaccinated. The dogs in our permanent sanctuary are either elderly or have behavioural or medical problems and sponsorship of any of these dogs helps us to maintain the level of care they need. Dogs in our rehabilitation unit are often with us for over a year before we feel they are settled enough to be rehomed and many of the dogs in the rescue unit are in need of veterinary care, good food and a healing time all of which are expensive. Part of the Trust’s commitment to the breed is to provide information, guidance and training which includes seminars, workshops and events, all of which are attended by our Ambassador Dogs. We are a non-profit making organisation, who relies solely on donations to cover the costs of rescuing dogs, these include kennelling, transportation and expensive veterinary fees. There are a many ways you can help us, you can make a general donation, sponsor one of our resident dogs, do a fund raising event or simply spread the word.
