(UK, 297576) Browse eventsWe aim to prevent cruelty and relieve suffering of horses, ponies and donkeys; to provide management and maintenance of facilities for the care of our rescued animals and to extend our work towards education and advice. We believe every horse pony and donkey has the right to be part of a loving family where it will be cared for and loved to the end of its naural life and to this end, where possible, we rehabilitate the animals and, when fully recovered, we loan them out to homes that can provide such an environment - no animal is ever SOLD and all loaned animals are regularly checked. If a loan home is no longer able to look after the animal, for whatever reason, it has to be returned to the Trust. Visitors are encouraged to come along on our open days to meet some of our residents and to read their case histories to understand the plight some of this animals have faced. We continually strive to promote animal welfare by producing free advice sheets and visitors are encouraged to read our information boards and take away our available literature. The Trust relies solely on public donations to support our work in caring for our resident equines and providing much needed sanctuary for those in need.

(UK, 1079874) Browse eventsCheetahs are the most endangered of the big cats in Africa and less than 10,000 remain in the wild. The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) was set up 25 years ago and is now recognized as the world’s leading organisation on the cheetah. The International Research and Education Centre in Namibia is the primary base for all CCF’s global activities, supported by chapters in US, UK, Canada and other countries. CCF has developed a truly inspirational holistic model for cheetah conservation based on the premise that saving the cheetah will save everything else, including humans. The model comprises “Future Farmers of Africa” programme, one part of which is the Livestock Guarding Dog project. This has been so successful that livestock losses have reduced to almost 0% and there is a 2-year waiting list for puppies in Namibia. Dogs have also been sent to South Africa and Tanzania to conserve cheetahs and other big cats. Other parts of the model include education, developing work opportunities for local farmers and communities, restoring habitat, implementing the innovative land-clearing Bushblok fuel project, research and releasing cheetahs back into the wild. This model has proved so successful that cheetah numbers in Namibia have doubled to 3,000. CCF’s vision is to scale-up and roll out this model to other cheetah countries in Africa and beyond. Our call to arms is: “Change the world and save a species” What an extraordinary legacy that would be. Please join us.

One of our main activities is running a cat neutering scheme, which helps people who cannot afford vets' fees, to have their animals neutered. This service is available in the Greater London area, with the support of other RSPCA branches and other charities. We also do as much as we can to help animals in distress, and find them permanent or temporary homes. We are a separate charity from RSPCA Headquarters with responsibility for raising funds to pay for the work that we do. We constantly apply our funds to help as many animals as possible in the Branch area.

(UK, 1124154) Browse eventsAnimal Welfare of Luxor (AWOL) is a small charity, registered in the UK under charity number 1124154. AWOL provides free veterinary treatment for the animals of Luxor's west bank in Egypt. This is very poor agricultural area where working animals are often essential for the families to be able to earn a living. By helping these animals you are not only alleviating the animals pain; you are also helping their owners to feed and clothe their families. AWOL provides free veterinary care to the very hard working horses, donkeys and camels, as well as the cats and dogs belonging to poor families in the villages. AWOL also makes and provides free comfortable equine tack and dog collars to replace the unsuitable string, wire and chains which poor owners often use as nothing else is available. AWOL is committed to educating owners about better animal care, often the problems we see are caused by ignorance rather than cruelty. AWOL is the only animal charity based on the west bank. The care we provide is essential to this impoverished area. Without AWOL many animals would be left to suffer uncared for and many families would be even worse off than they are now. Please help AWOL help the animals of Luxor's west bank and their owners.
