The Water Conservation Trust is the charitable arm of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators. The main objectives of the Water Conservation Trust are to further education and research in the water cycle and the environment, with a view to its conservation. Key activities include :- -Supporting projects in schools and giving prizes to encourage science and environmental learning. -Awarding postgraduate water and environment bursaries at a number of UK universities and Dissertation Prizes for the best Master’s thesis. -Awards to organisations which have well established links with the Company, for example, the Maidstone Sea Cadets. The present aim is to raise funds to increase the Water Conservation Trust’s support to suitable projects in schools.  For example recent projects have included:- - Working with the local water services company, Thames Water, to improve water cycle education in schools. -The installation of a pond and aquarium at Ruislip School to encourage science and environmental learning. -A natural pond at Hillside School, Orpington, which includes some children with special needs, has been saved from closure by the installation of a safety grid and is to be made available for science projects. -Support to Ysgol y Gogarth, a day and residential special school in Llandudno, to develop education and training facilities, and to trial community programmes which allow students, under supervision, to carry out paid gardening work in the community.

We monitor the distribution, population status, behaviour and ecology of the forest's flagship ape species, carry out biodiversity and forestry research, and work with local partners to implement conservationsolutions. The Sabangau is the largest area of unfragmented lowland rainforest in Kalimantan which houses the largest contiguous orang-utan population in the world. However, the whole ecosystem is still under threat from illegal logging, fire and hunting.
