YTD Raised: £0.00

Cavendish High School is a very special school for children and young people with complex learning difficulties including autism and physical disability. Our charity, The Friends Of Cavendish, was formed when the school first opened in 1978 and we are really fortunate to have people who raise money on our behalf. All the money is spent on extra things ranging from trips out to a hydrotherapy pool. Our motto is "Inclusion through Participation" and we are proud that fund raising is through our friends. We want to be part of the community and fund raising helps us to extend our friendship with others. Currently the school is raising money for our own cyber cafe that can be used by the pupils, the community and especially ex-pupils. We hope to have specialist IT equipment available for all to use giving access to computers and augmentative communication aids. Thank you so much for supporting us and we really look forward to opening up our cafe in the near future.

A Charitable Trust promoting the education of young people  Registered charity no. 1145079 www.xlltrust.org The UK based XLL Educational Trust was established in 2010 to provide sponsorship and bursaries to the Summit Schools in Maragua, Kenya so that orphans and poor students can have an education. Your donation will help transform the life of a child at The Summit Schools. It costs just £500 to provide one year’s education and full domestic support for a child at Summit. One hundred pounds allows a boarder to extend their stay at school during the vacations, in cases where returning to their home environment is considered by the school not to be in the child’s best interests. To support a day student who is still able to live with a relative, the cost is just £300.

Virtually every major development of the University has been as a result of some form of further philanthropic benefaction, including the land upon which the Penglais campus is built.  Every student who has ever attended Aber has benefitted from this continuous stream of support.  It is our hope that you will wish to continue this wonderful tradition. SRI was founded after the Tsunami of December 2004 and is registered as a Non Governmental Organization in Sri Lanka, a Charitable Trust in Hong Kong and a Charity in the UK. Our initial mission was to dispense aid to Tsunami affected areas, but over time this has evolved into the provision of long term educational resources and opportunities for disadvantaged children. We now work with about 50 schools in Southern Province, providing libraries, computer labs, general classroom repairs and sponsoring students. We have four directors, two of whom are based in London and two in Hong Kong. None of us receives a salary and we all cover our own travel and administrative expenses when travelling to, or working in Sri Lanka. One of SRI's main aims is to make sure that every dollar raised is spent in Sri Lanka on Sri Lankans. Our office is situated in Tissamaharma (about 20 mins inland from the South Eastern seaport of Hambantota) and we have conciously remained in this area because we believe we can only respond to the community's needs if we are truly part of it.

St Richard's School Bredenbury Court (UK, 1113203) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

St Richard’s is a co-educational boarding and day school for 2½ to 13 year olds.  While the school is founded on the Catholic faith and Christian values are paramount, we welcome children of all denominations.  St Richard’s is set in 35 acres of glorious Herefordshire countryside. We have recently launched an Appeal to enable us to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Hirons Hall, our indoor sports hall with which any Old Ricardian will be very familiar.  Primarily, we intend to re-roof and re-clad the Hirons Hall and install heating.  Our second phase is to build changing facilities alongside the Hirons Hall; this will have the added benefit of releasing a lot of pressure around the back corridors of the main building.  To improve access to this area and parking in general we will re-model the staff carpark and create a more aesthetically pleasing approach to the school.  Any surplus funds at this stage will be channelled towards the updating and refurbishment of the school's other facilities. Please join us in making this a successful and exciting project; we have set ourselves a demanding challenge but are confident that, with the loyal support of all those who come into contact with the school, it is all very achievable.

Trusts For African Schools (UK, 1113113) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

TAS  supports remote African schools on a transparent and sustainable basis.  Trusts for African Schools was set up as a UK charity in 2006 to improve the quality of educaiton in some of the poorest schools in Africa.   100% of all public donations are applied to specific projects. For each school we support we set up a local trust to sit alongside it. The trust raises funds, injects ideas and provides transparency and accountability on a sustainable basis.  It does not own or manage anything nor does it have any contractual responsibilities to the school. It is there solely to support the school. Trustees come from the school and the community but also include business and professional people from further afield.  They are the ‘Champions’ of the school.  No-one is paid anything for being a trustee.  We now have eleven school trusts established, (supporting over 3000 children) all in very remote areas, mainly in Kenya.  In 2012 we distributed around £100,000 directly to school trusts for projects they prioritised. These included new and refurbished classrooms, science labs, additional teachers, computers, out of school hours teaching,  solar power, sports activities and equipment, educational trips and incentives for teachers.  Trusts are encouraged to think creatively and to try out new ideas for improving the quality of education.  Lessons learned are disseminated via the website and the network of trustees.  The website is also the main tool for transparency.  Each school trust has its own micro-site on the TAS website where all minutes of meetings, details of proposals for funding, transfers of funds etc are accessible.  Minutes of TAS trustee meetings, funding decisions etc are all available on the website along with full details of how to set up and operate a local school trust.
