Cecily’s Fund helps Zambian children, who have been orphaned or made vulnerable as a result of HIV and AIDS, to get an education. Education is one of the most effective weapons in the battle against HIV– it gives children vital information, support from teachers and friends and skills to help them earn a living after school. We enable over 8,000 children to go to school by providing uniforms, shoes, books, pens and other equipment, and paying school and exam fees. Once they graduate, we help some of them train as teachers and peer health educators so they can pass on life-giving education to thousands more youngsters. The Prince's Teaching Institute (UK, 1116224) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Prince’s Teaching Institute is an educational Charity which raises ambition and challenge in state schools by providing professional development for teachers. The PTI believes that all children, irrespective of background or ability, are entitled to be taught by teachers who are passionate and knowledgeable about their subjects.  It promotes the idea that subject knowledge, subject rigour and enthusiasm for teaching are essential requirements for effective teaching.  Most of us remember a teacher at school who made a difference, who got us excited about what they were teaching us or who moulded/directed us to where we are today. At the Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) we believe that an inspired and knowledgeable teacher makes for an inspired pupil and our programmes and events refresh teachers subject knowledge and remind them that it was a passion for the subject they teach that motivated them to join this vital profession in the first place.   Where in many professions (e.g. medicine, law, and accounting) professional development is mandatory, teachers have no such requirement.  The PTI provides continuing professional development and ongoing support that nurtures and motivates teachers, but this doesn’t come cheap and to continue our good work we need your help. Show you care about the future of this country by investing in educating the next generation.
