(UK, 1081956) Our Charity The Charlton Park Academy Fund was set up in 2000 to support Charlton School, now Charlton Park Academy, a secondary school for pupils with special needs in the London Borough of Greenwich. The pupils, aged 11-19, have a variety of special needs including autistic spectrum disorder, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and emotional and behavioural difficulties. Many of them come from very deprived backgrounds and therefore face huge challenges to reach their full potential and be as independent as possible. Whilst the academy is funded by central government to deliver the students statutory education, the academy is constantly looking at ways to add to and enhance every student’s school experience, with the intention that this will raise self-esteem, boost self-confidence and ultimately give each student the greatest opportunity to achieve once they have left the school. Projects Such activities and projects of course cost money, and this is where the school’s registered charity looks to play its part. This, in practice, means working with the students, parents, staff and governors to look at projects that will provide the most benefit and impact to as many students as possible. Hence, the charity has raised money for projects large and small, such as the refurbishment of two sensory rooms within the school and the funding of after school clubs and residential trips. We are currently raising money for a new fleet of minibuses, our Minibus Appeal, computer devices for communication, residential trips and clubs.

YTD Raised: £6,575.85The Burpham Primary School Parents Support Group ("the PSG") is a Parent Teacher Association and has been registered as a charity since July 2003 (Registered Charity No. 1098735). All parents/guardians, teaching and non-teaching staff, and governors at the school are automatically included in the membership of the PSG, hence another reason behind the name - Parents, Staff and Governors. What is our purpose and how are we organised? Our purpose is, officially, "to enhance the education of the pupils at Burpham Primary School in particular by, developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school; and engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils" - which is a long-winded way of saying we aim to raise money for the school to buy equipment and support other activities whilst ensuring that everyone has plenty of fun along the way! As a charity, the PSG has registered trustees who are responsible for the overall workings of the group. The trustees are usually the Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary plus the Headteacher. Together with the trustees, the publicity officer and class representatives form the wider committee. The Annual General Meeting is held in September. Apart from the usual formalities we use this time to elect the committee for the coming year. The committee meets approximately once a term to hear the treasurers report, to make decisions on what the funds raised are spent on, to ensure compliance with necessary regulations and to oversee the fundraising timetable. Its also an opportunity to meet other parents and exchange views on whats happening in school and have a say in where the money is spent. Each fund-raising, social or support event is often organised by a sub-group of people. We welcome ideas from all parents for both fundraising and social events. We especially welcome volunteers to organise these events and make them work for us. The PSG has its own bank account, separate from School, which finances approved projects for the school and holds profits. A newsletter is sent out regularly to all parents updating everyone on events and monies raised. Fundraising and Fun During the year we hold a variety of events. Examples of past fundraising activities include; Quiz night, Disco, Christmas Fair, Jumble sale , Easter Cake Sale, Auction of Promises, Pamper Night, Summer Fair, etc. All these events require volunteers to help make them a success and we are always looking for new ideas from parents and offers of help for those willing to organise a particular event. Support Activities The PSG also get involved in school to help the teachers with events (and sometimes raise a bit more money in the process). Many parents support the school in other ways. We have a small army of volunteer parents who help in the classroom with reading, cooking, helping with the swimming run, library and other activities.

Today the College provides the future leadership of the Progressive Jewish community in the UK, Europe, FSU, Australia, South Africa and worldwide by training rabbis and teachers. YTD Raised: £5,485.36The Friends of St Monica's School is the registered charity of St Monica's RC Primary School in Southgate whose soul aim is to organise fund raising events to provide additional finance for the educational development of the children who attend the school. St Monica's is a "voluntary-aided" school. This means that the school receives all it's running costs from the local authority, but unlike a "maintained" school, we will only receive up to 90% of our capital costs from the government and this is where The Friends step in to pick up this shortfall. We are fortunate at our school to have a PTA that is, and has been, an integral part of the school community for over 35 years. In its time, The Friends has raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children's educational experience and the school's facilities. The Friends exist to provide closer links between home and school and helps bring staff, parents and friends together to work towards our common goal - improving the learning and social environment for our children. Every parent or guardian whose child attends St Monica's automatically becomes a member of The Friends and we are always grateful for those who take the next step to join our committee or participate in our many fundraising activities throughout the year.

YTD Raised: £5,435.00At Build an Education our aim is to improve the educational resources and opportunities for children in developing countries. Initially our attention is directed towards Ghana where in 2002 only 61% of primary age children were attending school. Since then and as a result of an increased focus on education and 5% of GDP now being set aside to provide educational resources, the number of children attending school has risen dramatically. In 2011 84% of children were enrolled in school with 73% attending regularly. However the data collected for secondary education shows that only 42% of children actually go on to attend school at secondary level. We believe that providing children with a high quality education whatever their age or ability is essential; in our view education must be regarded a basic right - every child should have the opportunity for a good level of education in a safe and supportive environment. We aim to deliver this through a variety of activities beginning with a focus on the school building and fabric itself; children should have every chance to access a good quality of education in a building that is fit for use and with equipment that stimulates and informs. Many current school buildings are unfit for purpose and by yet third world standards it will take relatively little effort and funds to improve their situation. Once this has been achieved we will work to deliver furniture, fittings and learning equipment such as books and stationery.
