Our main aim is to raise funds to help our local community and other Lions Projects, we consider all requests for assistance. For more information on Lions International please visit http://lionsclubs.org/EN/index.php We organise a number of regular fund raising events through the year, our next major fund raiser being Cycle for Youth 2013, a 24 hour Spin-a-thon to be held on the 20/21 April at the Wickbourne Centre, Clun Road, Littlehampton. Please visit our own clubs website for more information about your local club. If you would like to support us but are unable to get to the event, you can donate now through Virgin Giving. The photos to the right are a small collection from the first three Cycle for Youth Events which have been the Clubs major fund raiser over recent years. We also organise our Easter Eggstravaganza, Cycle for Youth, Rustington Parade and Fete, and Christmas Collections. In December we take Santa around some of our local streets and also make collections in Rustington, Littlehampton and local supermarkets. The Trust promotes this work through grants towards repairs and restoration work. London’s historic buildings are not simply remnants of our cultural heritage but are also vital features in the everyday life of London’s communities. Its musical director is David Temple, one of the leading figures in choral music in the country. It performs at venues such as the Barbican, St Albans Abbey and Sage Gateshead. As well as performing established works, it also commissions new compositions. Recently it has commissioned Codebreaker by James McCarthy and Ode to a Nightingale by Will Todd, two of the foremost young British composers.

Tring Park School for the Performing Arts

YTD Raised: £0.00Tring Park School for the Performing Arts offers a unique opportunity for gifted young people to specialise in Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre or Music, whilst gaining an excellent academic education to GCSE, BTEC and A level. Tring Park is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school, for up to 320 pupils between the ages of 8-19. The school is housed in a former Rothschild mansion and set in beautiful grounds in Tring, Hertfordshire. Pupils perform regularly at the highest level, both in our own Markova Theatre as well as in London, throughout the UK and Europe. Recent performances have included Gershwin’s Crazy for You and Jesus Christ Superstar at Londons Shaw Theatre and Graduation Ball at Swedens Gothenburg Opera House with members of the Swedish Ballet School. In 2010, our young ballet dancers performed in London productions of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker with English National Ballet. The School’s aspiration is to be the best performing arts school in the UK, offering excellent education and training in first-class facilities accessible to all who meet the artistic entry standards. In order to fulfil this ambition Tring Park requires enormous investment and is proud to announce that it has successfully achieved the first phase of its ambitious plan with the completion of five new studios and significantly increased student bursary support (a combined investment of over £3m). This is just the start however and we are keen to progress with the second phase as early as 2012. 2011 will therefore see the launch of the Tring Park Campaign. The campaign aims to raise £10m over a number of years to support two major priorities: To invest in development and improvements to facilities Increase access to talented students by expansion of scholarship and bursary. The School is hugely grateful for any donations supporting the campagn which will benefit future generations of aspiring young performers.
