We are a group of local residents that want to celebrate the lives of Alfred and Ada Salter. They contributed so much to our city and in particular to the Bermondsey area. To the great distress of many local residents and visitors to the area, the famous statue of Alfred Salter, ‘Dr Salter’s Daydream’, was stolen from outside the Angel pub, Bermondsey Wall East, SE16 4NB, in November 2011. This was one of a spate of thefts of works of art stolen for their scrap metal value. A reward of 1,000 was offered for its return, but sadly to no avail. We aim to raise £100,000 to replace the statues of Alfred and Joyce, the former stolen by metal thieves, to add Ada Salter - a heroine in her own right - and to ensure the future security of the statues. Find out more about the Salters and our campaign at www.salterstatues.co.uk To donate please go straight to our fundraising page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SalterStatuesCampaign Thanks for your support, Catherine, Gary, Amanda, Imran, Sheila and Graham - the Salter Statues Campaign Trustees

Radio Halton provides a music and information service exclusively in Halton General Hospital in Runcorn, Cheshire. Our broadcasts continue overnight thanks to software providing a 'round the clock' schedule. We include the news on the hour between 10am and 10pm, while volunteer presenters are on the premises. Our volunteers visit patients on the wards and chat with them to help them relax. We find out what music they like and on returning to the studio, play it for them. We have no paid personnel, everyone volunteers their time, at least two hours per week. In addition to playing music from the past 60 years, we relay commentary from rugby league matches featuring local team Widnes Vikings, collaborating with volunteers at our sister station Radio General in Warrington Hospital, within the same hospital trust. There is a need to explore different methods of broadcasting other than the 50-year-old technology of stethoscope-style bedside headsets which are becoming hard to obtain, as manufacture in the UK is scarce. A method such as wi-fi would enable us to reach departments of the hospital which are currently not served by speakers, but this requires funds we don't have. Currently, our team comprises 10 volunteers who provide the service to patients, visitors and staff, and the service has been in existence since 1986. We are run by a committee of trustees, under a constitution.
