Rotary is an organisation that has been around for over 100 years. Interestingly it is not a British institution but in fact originated in America and is now International. It's primary function is to help others, it's motto is "service above self" and like most mottos sets very high ideals, however we do raise money for local and international appeals as well as help people reach their potential. If you like to help others then you will find many of a similar mind in Rotary and I am sure you will make strong friendships, in fact one of the best rewards for our work is the fellowship and friendship that you get from other members. Led by Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski and Chief Executive Timothy Walker AM, the Orchestra is principally resident at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, with additional residencies at Brighton, Eastbourne, and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. The Orchestra reaches enthusiastic audiences worldwide through its extensive touring schedule, recordings, and live broadcasts. The Orchestra’s Education and Community programme reaches over 30,000 people each year, with particular focus on the boroughs of Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark. The emphasis is on engaging those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience live music, as well as fostering emerging young talent.

(UK, SC046248) Bookfeeding Project is a non-profit organization aimed at shipping second-hand books and re-usable educational material to communities in need.We refurbish educational facilities in cooperation with local NGOs and organizations as part of already existing projects, but we also build libraries as independent projects. The initiatives aim at being self-sustainable, environmentally friendly and at creating fruitful and long-lasting projects that can create revenue to maintain the educational facility in good conditions and support the costs related to it. If you have any unwanted books you can send them directly to one of our libraries, drop them off at one of our collection points, or even bring them with you when visiting one of our projects. We are on a mission to prompt a conscious involvement in volunteering experiences. We want people to realize first the challenges of their own society before embarking in a project abroad, and to be fully aware of the environment they are going to work in. Volunteers are welcome to contribute either in their home country or to join the projects in field. In this case, they are asked to bring in their unique human skills and ideas to the projects. The Cornerstone Campaign Recently granted funding from Arts Council England towards an extension of the beautiful grade II* listed building, by Autumn 2015, Square Chapel will have improved access and facilities, a brand new cafe/restaurant, a multi-purpose second auditorium and a dedidacted space for our 170+ volunteers. With £5.1m already raised from trusts, foundations and individuals, we now need you to help us raise the last bit. Share in our success, we're almost there Aside from the diverse artistic programme and stunning listed building, what makes Square Chapel really special is the incredible community spirit and support that has carried it from being a derelict building in 1988 to a thriving arts and community venue 25 years later. We have now reached the point where we are out-growing our current capacity, and in order for us to continue providing activities and events, we need to expand. It is thanks to you – the people and the businesses of Calderdale – that we have been able to get to this point. Now we need your help again. You can support us financially by either making a regular donation or simply a one-off gift if you prefer. Established in Amsterdam in 1933, the Library was originally founded as an information service to reveal the true nature of events in the Third Reich. Today, the Library holds an exceptional collection of over two million items including published and unpublished works, press cuttings, photographs and eyewitness testimonies, and it is this collection that lies at the heart of our work. The Library aims to serve scholars, researchers, the media and the public as a library of record, engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in understanding the Holocaust and its historical context. It provides a resource to oppose anti-Semitism and other forms of prejudice and racism. We reach out to audiences across the UK encouraging students, the media, writers, policymakers, educators, legal professionals, refugees, survivors and their descendants to use our wealth of materials in their search for the truth. The Library is committed to exploring innovative ways to promote study and engagement with source materials, and to enable connections and explorations with modern day issues. As a living memorial to the evils of the past, the Library is dedicated to verifiable truth, democratic accountability, openness and tolerance of ethnic and religious differences. You are welcome to visit us and study our books, documents and photographs in the Wolfson Reading Room. We aim to serve as a library of record, engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in understanding the Holocaust and its historical context. The Library is committed to exploring innovative ways to promote study and engagement with source materials, and to enable connections and explorations with modern day issues. We have an active Learning and Outreach programme of free lectures, book launches, workshops and seminars run by leading academics and educators. We also run a temporary exhibition programme throughout the year and our current First World War exhibition ‘The Kaiser’s Jewish Soldiers: Loyalty, Identity, Betrayal’ showcases objects, documents and artefacts from our extensive collections. Story of the Library The Library is named after Dr Alfred Wiener, a German Jew who after the First World War began to fight against the surge of antisemitism in Germany. In 1933, Dr Wiener and his family fled to Amsterdam where he established the Jewish Central Information Office, which collected information with the purpose of revealing the true nature of events in the Third Reich. In 1939 the JCIO was transferred to London, and throughout the Second World War Allied Governments as well as the BBC made extensive use of its collection, which was increasingly referred to as ‘Dr Wiener's Library'. After the war, the Library provided critical evidence to the Nuremberg Trials and later to the Eichmann Trial, and became a key source of information for survivors attempting to trace their families. Today, the Library’s collection continues to grow with more items added every year, including materials on other genocides such as Rwanda and Darfur. The Daniel Estick Trust

YTD Raised: £0.00After the sudden death of 23 month old Daniel Estick in 2009 the Trust was established, in his memory, to help others along the personal road of grief and to offer opportunities for local children to just have fun. The Gift of a Memory treasure box ... Having a place for pictures, documents and items special to loved ones is an important start on the long and rocky road of grief. The Trust began by providing “memory boxes ” to health professionals, local church ministers and bereavement charities, in Milton Keynes. However, since visiting Keech Children’s Hospice in Luton, the trusts founders set themselves a new goal of providing these boxes to every Children’s Hospice who would like them in the UK (approx 52). The boxes the trust provides are all hand made by G. Ryder & Co Ltd in Bletchley. They can be personalised by parents and siblings and have become a much used tool by councillors and organisations helping bereaved parents. It may sound like a small and insignificant item but through bitter experience the parents of Daniel know how hard it is to immediately know what to do with those items. At a time when rational thought is rare, our boxes should help to reduce any regrets further down the line on having lost or damaged irreplaceable items. Helping create memories to treasure... From Woburn Sands, (Daniels home town near Milton Keynes) the trust organises heavily subsidised trips to allow local children to develop their own treasured memories and just have fun. It also helps provide local children’s groups with messy play and art materials so they too have the opportunity to create special items to treasure.
