(UK, 1059614) The Friends of Raymond was formed in October 1996 to recover, restore and exhibit Raymond, the last unpowered wooden commercial carrying craft ever built in the UK: by 2002 restoration was complete. In 2003 we managed to purchase Nutfield, which used to tow Raymond when they were working boats.

YTD Raised: £0.00CCB runs the historic, Grade A listed, Picture House on the waterfront in Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula. It is run by volunteers and is the only form of family entertainment available six nights a week, 52 weeks of the year for an isolated community. It will celebrate its Centenary on 26th May 2013. One of the first purpose built cinemas in the country, Glasgow Art Nouveau, the original architect, Albert Gardner returned in the 30s to add an 'atmospheric' interior, now surviving as a unique example of this style. Described by The Guardian as 'the most beautiful cinema in the UK' it is now in need of restoration, The Centenary Project will enable the building to face its second hundred years more sustainably by using the adjacent vacant annex to build a bigger box office and kiosk, able to serve cinema food and drink. An exhibition will be created from the archive of photographs of the MacGrory Brothers, two successful local businessmen, who, as their hobby, took over 2000 photographs in the 1890s and early 1900s. There will also be an exhibition of the cinema's own history and artifacts, including restoring a Mercury Arc Rectifier. These additional facilities and linked activities will be a valuable new source of indoor entertainment for residents and visitors alike. This project has already received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic and Creative Scotland, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, European LEADER and Argyll & Bute Council. Also grants from private trusts and foundations have been promised. But the costs are likely to be in the region of £2 million, so many other fundraising efforts are needed to ensure what Peter Irvine said “Cinema Paradiso on the Kintyre peninsula, to see a film here and emerge onto the esplanade of Campbeltown Loch is to experience the lost magic of a night at the pictures” becomes a reality.

The exhibition is currently touring in the UK. Zhen Shan Ren Arts (UK) is a company set up to promote The Art of Zhen, Shan, Ren International Art Exhibition in the UK. “Zhen” “Shan” “Ren” is the Chinese translation of “Truthfulness” “Compassion” “Tolerance”. The Falun Dafa New York Art Centre has put 63 works of art together for the exhibition so far, and more works continue to be created. Currently the UK is fortunate to have 61 pieces ready to be displayed. As a UK registered charity we are bringing our artworks around the UK to enrich local communities. We can offer workshops to compliment the exhibition, including film shows, artistic performances, and hands-on activities for a broad range of people to raise awareness of fine art, foundation of morality, and different cultures in the world. A handful of dedicated volunteers have put their time and money to make these exhibitions happen. YTD Raised: £0.00Imberhorne CommunitySports Hall Small Change for a Big Change Imberhorne School provides a great education for around 1700 pupils, but currently there is very little space for sport or music and drama. Imberhorne is the only school in West Sussex which does not have a Sports Hall despite being classified by Ofsted as an “Outstanding” school. We are raising funds to enable a state of the art facility to be built. Such a facility will also benefit the wider community as it will promote sport and the performing arts for everyone and we plan that it will be available for all to use. The School Governors have been working hard for more than a year and WSCC recently pledged £1.8m towards the building costs. Now we need to raise a further £200,000 to fullfill our pledge to the project. So far we have raised or have plegdes for about £120,000, but we need your support if we are to achieve our target. Detailed planning has been done with a view to start building in July 2012.

The Mulberry Centre, Canal Street House and Quaker House service users all benefit from the monies raised. The Friends of The Mulberry, supports over a 100 adults. Last year’s fundraising enabled us to purchase a new mini bus that makes it possible for our service users to access the local community. We provide the centres with transport (including the running costs of three mini buses), funding for drama, dance and art projects as well as other ad hoc activities. This year we funded special performances for the Jubilee and the Olympics.

We fundraise for this charity regularly and all funds raised go directly to benefiting children in The Gambia; there are no administrative costs and our work to date can be seen on the charity website. Since starting in 2008, we have personally distributed 1335 footballs, 1056 kits and 312 pumps to 221 different schools along the full length of The Gambia. Our aim for our next fundraising event, KayakRiverGambia.com, is to raise £10,000 in the UK and £10,000 in The Gambia. Achieving our target will enable us to improve and develop infrastructure (such as classrooms and teacher housing) at a number of selected schools in real need of renovation in The Gambia.
