Promise to Amalia was set up in January 2013 by Amalia's parents, after she was born asleep in December 2012. They wanted to keep their promise to make her imprint on the world a positive one, by helping those less fortunate than she would have been. Promise to Amalia is currently helping a local underprivileged school in Sri Lanka and hopes to use this as a platform to further support children and their families in need. Our website www.promisetoamalia.org.uk will be available soon with more details. As a new charity, regular support would not only ensure the sustainability of Promise to Amalia, but it would also allow us to plan ahead and take on larger projects to help those in need. We would deeply appreciate any donation, however small. Even £2 per month could make a huge difference. There is so much we want to do and can do, but only with your help. We are aware that the monthly donation options on Virgin Money Giving start at £10. This is a standard template, which is unfortunately beyond our control. There is of course an 'other' option, for any alternative amounts you may wish to donate. Thank you for your support and generosity.

Think Amy is a registered charity which promotes safe driving. We do this through education, partnership working and raising public awareness about the consequences of dangerous driving. We have a particular focus on educating new and young drivers, statistically most likely to cause death or serious injury on the roads. The charity was set up by Jane Hofmeister after her 13 year old daughter Amy was killed on 15 June 2011 whilst cycling on a cycle path in broad daylight in Taunton, Somerset. The driver of the car that killed Amy had been racing another at motorway speeds along a residential road. He overtook the car he was racing, lost control on a bend and struck the kerb, flipping the car into the air which hit Amy, killing her instantly. We want to remind the driver that their driving style is a choice they make themselves - the driver alone has the power and the choice to drive safely - we want to influence that choice. We want to encourage all drivers to drive safely and reduce the number of avoidable, unnecessary deaths and serious injury on the roads.
