Zellweger UK (UK, 1166389) Browse events

YTD Raised: £780.00

Supporting families impacted by Zellweger Spectrum Disorder, and helping to fund much needed medical research for this rare and devastating condition. Zellweger Spectrum Disorder affects approximately 1 in 50,000 children worldwide. As it's so rare specialists in the condition are few and far between, and families can feel cut off. As parents ourselves, some who have sadly already lost their children to ZSD, we know how scared and cut off families can feel. Our aim is to be a source of support both financially by way of small grants, and emotionally. Nobody understand ZSD better than other families on the spectrum. There is currently no affective treatments for ZSD; only management of some of the symptoms. We aim to help towards funding desperately needed medical research in the hope of better diagnostics, effective treatments, and one day, even a cure. Parkinson's EQUIP is a new charity helping people with Parkinson's who wish to improve their quality of life. Anyone with Parkinson's who wishes to become involved in either an arts or sports activity, but who is limited by cost can apply to us for a grant. We know that these activities are particularly helpful to people with Parkinson's. Involvement of this kind can only be of benefit to the person concerned and indirectly, those around them. We are also considering funding activity groups for people with Parkinsons' as this approach has the added benefits of economy of scale and social interaction. A great way to support us is to buy a copy of this high quality book of poetry and art written by three people who know. Chapter and Illuminating Verse is available simply by following the link to our website just on the left of this page. Remember, you get an excellent book and ALL the money goes to the charity. That's win-win. Our Secretary Tom Davenport and his daughter Grace completed the 300km Robert Louis Stephenson Trail in southern France. See their blog here and why not sponsor them - they did it for EQUIP.
