We all dance ̶ for pleasure, for fun, on our own, in groups or maybe only when no one else is watching. National Dance Company Wales (NDCWales) capitalises on dance’s universality as a form of expressing emotion through motion. We perform across Wales, the UK and overseas taking people on journeys of discovery, creating opportunities to participate, discuss, watch and learn about dance, about themselves and about the world. Through participation NDCWales connects people with themselves and others through enhancing self-confidence, self-awareness; developing health, team-building and creativity. We run a range of projects at our home, The Dance House / Ty Dawns, Cardiff Bay including our Youth Ensemble programme – Associates, Dance Days and Dance Courses. When the company tours we run engagement activities including workshops and talks. The projects we create will deliver our artistic vision and values, helping to build and secure the future of dance and inspire a passion for dance in the communities we serve.

We are asking everyone to take part in the Holburne Challenge with the aim of raising £300,000 towards the final phase of our development project. The development, which includes restoration of our Grade I listed eighteenth-century home and the construction of a spectacular modern extension, will allow us to welcome and look after all our visitors properly. Our new spaces will transform what we can do from exhibitions to teaching and allow us to reveal our collection in all its glory. A new garden café will open onto the park in which the museum sits. We will be opening our doors to the renewed museum in May 2011 when for the first time the Holburne will be free to enter and fully accessible to all. With your support we can make sure that we continue our work within the community and provide the opportunity for everyone to access our collection, fantastic art exhibitions and events well into the future. The Holburne is more than a collection of paintings and decorative art objects; it is a community of people and we’d love you to be part of it.
