We provide support to families who are living in the community who are affected by dementia, through individual family visits, support groups for carers and activity programmes and companion services to people with dementia. Currently we support over 404 clients including their families and whanau in the Western Bay of Plenty. Our service provides individual support for carers of people with dementia and their families. The volunteer support provides companion services and befriender services to people affected by dementia. We provide monthly education sessions to carers, our team of volunteers and the wider community on topics relating to dementia. We hold monthly support group meetings for carers, education sessions for carers, families and community and activity groups for people with dementia both at the early memory loss stage and the more advanced stages. Social outings are provided for people with dementia and their carers to give a sense of normalisation for people living in a challenging environment.
