YTD Raised: £16,162.42

We provide support to the children of families dealing with cancer and other life affecting illnesses, offering help through physical and sporting activities, counselling and memory-making days. The Chris Aked Foundation was the idea of our dear friend, loving husband and father, Chris Aked. Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in April 2017, when his baby daughter was only 11 weeks old. He fought hard, and we were hopeful he would recover, but unfortunately the cancer was diagnosed too late and he died just five months later on 7th September 2017, aged only 33.He was the most determined person through his illness and wanted to support others facing adversity. Children are often sidelined during the traumatic period while a parent or sibling is fighting cancer and we want to give them the focus, support and care they require, at a time when they need it most. Please help us make a difference. Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis is an autoimmune disorder affecting children and young people where the body starts to attack the joints, causing inflammation, pain, discomfort and reduced mobility. Left unchecked, it can lead to other health conditions as the immune system attacks organs, as well as permanent disability and long-term health implications. Many children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis suffer from uveitis, where the immune system attacks the eyes; if left untreated this can lead to permanent vision loss and blindness. INSAAF (UK, 1182275) Browse events

YTD Raised: £16,061.20

We bring emergency support to refugees around the world to help with their most basic needs in time of crisis: food, clothing and shelter. Our group is entirely made of volonteers from the UK, intent on making the most impact from our modest contribution. We want to raise awareness of the refugee issue, and thanks to your donations, bring help directly to those who need it most. Insaaf started as an informal group of friends in December 2015, right in the middle of the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe. As images of thousands of refugees crossing the sea and trekking accross Europe were mass broadcast on TV and in newspapers, we had to act and do something about it. Thanks to friends, colleagues and family, we raised £8000 in three weeks to fund a first convoy to the refugee camp of Dunkirk in France, where over a thousand people lived in dire conditions in the middle of winter. We brought them tents, firewood, warm boots and other much needed essentials. Since then, Insaaf has grown and is now a Registered Charity. We have travelled back to France on many occasions and much further afield to places in Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, and Bangladesh, supporting Syrian and Rohingya refugees. We have learned more about the people who had to leave everything behind and have heard their stories. With your help we want to continue going to them with whatever help and comfort we can offer. It is our duty, their right.
