Huddersfield Down Syndrome Support Group (UK, 1096206) Browse events

YTD Raised: £270.00

HDSSG was set up by parent volunteers in the Huddersfield district of children with Down Syndrome.   As a group we aim to provide support to the families, to celebrate our children’s achievements, champion their views and aspirations and also provide social, sporting and learning opportunities for the children and their siblings.   We use valuable donations from smashing people just like you to fund fun things like activities and outings but also the serious stuff like resources and speech & language therapy. A donation of £60 lets up to 8 of our families have private use of a hydrotherapy swimming pool for an hour. It costs £500 for 14 of our children to access 'Chatterbox' - our speech and language therapy programme with our qualified therapist, Louise Usher, once a month. £4 helps us put together a 'New Parent' pack. These are distributed to local hospitals to be given to new parents of babies with Down Syndrome congratulating them on their new arrival, and letting them know we are here when they need us.    To find out more about us why not browse our website? www.hdssg.org  Thank you for your support!

The Friends of the Edington support the Edington Hospital by raising funds to provide equipment and amenities for inpatients and those cared for by the Community Nurses, and by fostering a link between the hospital and the local community. Income received by the Friends is by way of voluntary donations from individuals and local organisations. As a result of the generous support received from the local community the Friends are able to provide facilities for the hospital which the NHS is unable to fund. These include the purchase of medical equipment, the provision of therapy and comforts for patients and the funding of specialist training for the nursing staff. The Friends also meet the cost of an Activities Coordinator who arranges activities and treats for patients. As a result of the support which the Friends are able to provide the hospital is one of the best equipped hospitals of its size in Scotland.
