The retreat in Kakamega has been given a local name of the “Koinonia Christian Retreat Centre”. Koinonia is a Greek word that means family, in a sense of wider community and love. We lovingly care for the rejected, abused and abandoned, such as street children and orphans. Our homes provide shelter, food, security, behavioural boundaries and individual attention for those in our care. The objective of the project is to help each child become a productive and valuable member of their society, helping them to achieve a brighter future through education, training and life skills application. “A little effort can make a huge impact” Thank you for being part of what we are doing.

Their main purpose is to provide funds for equipment and all aspects of comfort and care, for the benefit of patients and staff throughout the various departments of the hospital. Its support was originally for the old Tiverton and District Hospital until its closure in 2004. This was then replaced by a newly built hospital which was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal on 11 April 2005. In addition, the League provides support to patients, staff and visitors from our small shop, where we can supply newspapers, books, refreshments and many other essential items.
