PLANETS Cancer Charity helps patients with pancreatic, liver, colorectal, oesophageal and neuroendocrine cancer by funding patient support groups, innovative treatments and research. Since 2011 we have raised over £890,000!Our Key Achievements have been:Establishing a network of patient support groups across the Wessex region.Funding the introduction of intra operative radiotherapy (IORT) with the UK’s first mobile electron beam radiotherapy machine, able to deliver radiotherapy to advanced cancers during surgery.Funding a full-time pancreatic and neuroendocrine tumour researcher to work with the clinician scientists in Southampton’s world leading cancer immunology research department.PLANETS Cancer Charity is dedicated to serving the needs of our regional population which extends from Lyme Regis to Bognor Regis and provides specialist cancer services to the 4 million people who live across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands and West Sussex. PLANETS ethos is based around two fundamental principles. Firstly, supporting our patients and their families by working together as a “whole team” with the doctors, nurses and other medical staff using the motivation of fundraising alongside our patients to help them fight cancer through the positive energy that this camaraderie creates. Secondly, we use the money that has been raised to provide the “icing on the cake“ by funding things that the NHS otherwise could not afford and stimulating innovation in cancer care through research and the introduction of new treatments.PLANETS is more than just another local cancer charity, it is a motivating and unifying force that is changing the way that we approach the fight against cancer across the central south coast of England. Our aim is not just to save lives but also to enrich them in the process by helping the “whole team” to focus together on our shared goals. At St Osmund's School, we believe every child is a child of God and has a great future ahead of them. We are a family of faith who live by faith preparing children to become independent and prepared for whatever life has in store for them. We are a small, happy school which promotes a love of knowledge and a culture of learning. Through our challenging teaching environment every child aspires to develop their talents and gifts as they discover, learn and explore God's world. We nurture Catholic values in our children which mirror the values of their home life; especially self-respect, respecting others, working with others, justice for all, fortitude, a care for the earth and compassion for the poor. Our School Motto: Show your Faith by the way you live.
Guildford Cathedral is proud to be the People’s Cathedral. Open 365 days a year, we are a sacred place of welcome, worship, inspiration and engagement for all. Our past defines our present and future. Funded through the sacrificial generosity of 200,000 ordinary people following the Second World War, our ‘brick givers’ made this magnificent and modern cathedral possible. That spirit of giving and commitment continues today, as our congregation, wider Cathedral community, people of Surrey and beyond support us financially and prayerfully. Each and every one of those 200,000 bricks is vital in playing its part in holding up not just this structure, but our mission. The bricks come alive in our ministry of music, art, learning and heritage. Collectively, they have great significance locally, across Surrey and nationally. The Cathedral is far greater than the sum of its parts. In its short history, Guildford Cathedral has become a unique part of the national heritage:
