University Of Cape Town Trust (UK, 803042) Browse events

YTD Raised: £18,258.71

The University of Cape Town Trust raises funds in the UK and Europe for the University of Cape Town, South Africa's premier university. Funds raised  in the UK support bursaries to help young talented students from profoundly disadvantaged backgrounds to live and learn at UCT.  Without financial aid, so much of the talent now emerging from the townships and rural areas of South Africa will be wasted.  These are the young people who will ultimately make valuable contributions to South Africa's future.  Every penny raised can make an enormous difference to the lives of South Africans - not only the lives of the bursary students, but also the lives of their families.    Funds raised  in the UK also help to build capacity to ensure that the quality of teaching and research continues to align with UCT's mission for excellence, and allows UCT to be a globally recognised University.

Light Project Peterborough (UK, 1159764) Browse events

YTD Raised: £18,193.00

We want people to 'get' the good news of Jesus; so we use creative and novel ideas to reach out to people, on the streets, in pubs, in fact wherever people are. Our reasoning is that good news needs to be understood as good news otherwise it's no news which is bad news! Our main project this Winter is the Winter Night Shelter where we are helping up to 8 homeless guests each night from 12th December until 12th March 2017 with a hot meal, safe bed and breakfast. We are also raising funds to support a Project Worker for 12 months of the year who would work with those who are homeless or who have just moved into accommodation having been homeless thus providing a loving support network at this critical time.
