The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary first started St Finian’s convent here on this wonderful site in 1915 and our sisters have lived and worked alongside the school ever since. Sadly, their Trustees can’t sustain the convent here any longer. We have to move on, the property will be sold and a new school must be built. That’s why our community needs to invest in the future of our children now so the next chapter can begin and the family of St Finian’s can journey on together, learning and living the Christian values of faith, love and justice. Please support our wonderful Community in the various events they have planned to raise the £210,000 we need for our new school. You can donate directly, make a pledge or sponsor one of our events.

(UK, 1183124) Browse eventsThe Talent Tap is a social mobility charity with a mission to meaningfully change the lives of talented state educated students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, by giving them the work experience, support, and network, that they need to succeed in their chosen careers. The reality of today’s job market is that many careers can only be accessed if the applicant can demonstrate appropriate work experience on their CV. Often unpaid, it is only the students who can afford to spend weeks at a time working for free that gain such experience. On top of this, access to work experience requires a network of contacts and an understanding of what opportunities are out there. In addition the requirement for accommodation and transport means that the barriers for most school leavers are very high. The Talent Tap addresses this by working with a network of schools and businesses to provide work experience placements and mentoring programmes, along with the financial support needed to allow talented students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, to take advantage of these opportunities.
