British Exploring is a pioneering youth development charity undertaking scientific research expeditions in areas of wilderness, in the four extremes of mountain, jungle, desert and Arctic. Founded in 1932, our aim has been to recruit, train and develop leaders and scientists of the future who are then able to inspire others. Based at the Royal Geographical Society, British Exploring is the world’s oldest charitable organisation of its kind. We take young people on classic expeditions of a challenging and scientific nature to wilderness parts of the world to develop and promote their self reliance, team work, leadership and a spirit of adventure. British Exploring encourages young people from all sectors of society to apply to become Young Explorers and Young Leaders. We raise funds for three main purposes: personal and leadership development, the Dangoor Next Generation Programme (for disadvantaged young people) and bursaries to enable more young people from all parts of society to join our expeditions. Our clear aim is to help children with critical illnesses and their families across the UK by giving them crucial respite from the trauma of being in hospitals. We want to give them all hope, positivity and confidence through creating magical holiday experiences that will provide them all with amazing memories away from the day to day stresses of the medical environment. At the Kids Village we want to give children with life limiting illnesses and their families important life-enhancing respite. Fun, magical moments and great memories: we aim to provide it all. Our focus is on the whole family being embraced for a while and ensuring they leave the Kids Village experience feeling happy, re- charged and more confident for the path ahead. In short, families can choose a special break either at our purpose built Kids Village in the heart of the UK, or at other specially selected locations nationwide. We want to take away some of the stress and worry of caring for a child whose future is uncertain and give families the gift of time together and the chance to recharge and just enjoy each other’s company. Our aim is to help children with critical illnesses forget about the trauma of being in and out of hospital and just inspire and invigorate them for a while. When a charity recommends a family for a Kids Village respite holiday, we will pull out all the stops and plan an unforgettable trip with surprises at every turn. Cost free. Worry free. Memory rich.

Meals & More was set up to put an end to holiday hunger and provide holiday provision for thousands of the UK's poorest and most vulnerable children. When the school holidays arrive, it should signal weeks of fun for children, but the sad reality is that thousands of families across the UK will struggle to put food on the table. We believe that no child should go hungry, even when there is no structured support outside of the school term for the millions of children who receive free school meals. That’s why we started Meals & More, to put an end to holiday hunger and make sure that children don’t suffer six weeks of isolation, without a decent meal. We provide support for holiday clubs across the UK where children can enjoy a healthy, hot meal, as well as participating in activities that help avoid the stigma of poverty and the isolation that often follows.
