Through the support of the Festival Friends, we have supported the local String Scheme for local state primary pupils, enabling dozens of Year-4 pupils to receive weekly group instruction on loaned violins and cellos. This fantastic scheme (set up by Royal Grammar School Guildford) plugs the curriculum gap, giving local school children vital exposure to music and music-making. In addition, the festival creates invaluable performance opportunities for young and emerging artists as they work towards establishing sustainable careers.

Started in 1984, this charity aids the social and economic development of Palestine by offering scholarships for young Palestinians to study for Masters degrees at Durham University. The skills and experience they gain in England will transform the lives of countless Palestinians when they return home. We have no paid workers or administrative expenses so every penny you donate is guaranteed to go to supporting Palestinian students. Each scholarship costs us £12,000 in living costs, travel expenses and visa fees. Durham University generously grants each of our students a tuition fees scholarship worth an additional £12,000. In 2012-13, we will offer 3 scholarships. Help us to bring hope to people who often think that the world has forgotten them and help to invest in their future.
