Arctic One aims to give opportunities to both able bodied and disabled people to enable them to “Get Involved” in Sport. In addition to this we are exploring the benefits of sport in cancer- related diseases. We felt that by forming a Charity, we would be able to do more to support these areas and control how the funds raised are spent. In the last twelve months we have developed the Charity extensively including holding the First Junior Para Triathlon in the UK as well as raising over £10,000 to provide opportunities for disabled people to get into sport. This includes helping 5 amputees to fund protehtic limbs to enable them to continue enjoying sport! Please check out our website www.arctic1.co.uk for more information

(UK, XR16302) Browse eventsThe St Olave's Grammar School Voluntary Fund was established to support the provision of a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular activities at the School which could not be maintained by state funding alone. Examples of how the money raised is used on a regular basis include: - coaches and minibuses for school trips and for transporting sports teams to away fixtures; - additional specialist coaching for sports such as Fives and Chess; - drama productions and concerts; - purchase of materials for Art and Design Technology; - a range of clubs and societies such as debating, medical and language groups. Using the resources of the School Fund, St Olave's is able to offer a far wider and more varied range of extra-curricular activities for its pupils than the majority of state schools. These provide an opportunity for all pupils to engage in areas of interest and to help develop their skills and characters beyond the classroom as well as supporting their academic learning and achievement. The majority of parents contribute regular payments of £50 per month by standing order, although a significant number are kind enough to offer larger sums. Almost all of those who qualify have also completed Gift Aid declarations which allow the School to claim tax relief to enhance the value of those payments.
