Hussein was sadly taken away from us on the 17th Feb 2012.  Hussein had a huge passion for life. He possessed an exceptionally warm personality with an immense amount of energy which he put into his friends and family and all that he cared about. Hussein participatied in charity events wherever he was able to. His very first salary from his Saturday job at Hamleys contriibuted towards an annual school bus fare of an orphaned boy. At 11 years of age, he arranged a movie event at school and donated the proceeds to Unicef; the list is endless... Hussein would have wanted nothing more than to be remembered through helping others. Therefore, where we are able to, Hussein's friends and family will endeavour to make a difference in some small way to support the types of causes which Hussein would have supported. The charity has been in place for last two years, causes supported include :- a)Provision of rice, flour, sugar and oil packs to be distributed amongst 300 families in India (June 2013)b)Payment of school fees for 5 orphaned girls in Gujarat who are academically very able but economically not. With our support, the girls are hoping to pursue careers in Medicine, Physiotheraphy and Nursing. These girls, once educated will set an example in their community and create the desire and hope for many other children in similar siutations. Future Projects: Whilst we will continue with the above projects, we are also organising a day out for number of orphaned children in India to a 'theme park'.  Through goverment funding and donations they receive the basics i.e. food, clothes but to go to a theme park would be 'out of this world'. We want to make this come true for them for two reasons; it would be an amazing experience for them. Also this type event will be a fitting tribute to our fun-loving son, Hussein. Hussein's short life was a testament to the saying 'A man who dares to waste one hour has not discovered the value of life' (by Charles Darwin)  We will miss him terribly always and forever but we understand that he was a precious gift in our lives.  "Inna Lillahi wasinna ilaihi raji 'un" Surely we belong to God and to him shall we return.

The Hypermobility Syndromes Association (UK, 1011063) Browse events

YTD Raised: £3,813.21

The HMSA aims to provide support and information to those affected by a Hypermobility Syndrome and to promote knowledge and understanding within the medical community and the public at large. We hope to assist sufferers to come to terms with their HMS and the distress that it can cause. The severity of the effects of a Hypermobility Syndrome varies with the individual: some have few symptoms others are severely affected. Hypermobility Syndromes are generally 'invisible illnesses' and because of this we can look well to the outside world but are often in severe pain. Moreover the nature of hypermobile joints combined with frail tissues means that we are prone to injury when performing simple everyday tasks. This opens us to skepticism, particularly by those in the medical profession who know little about HMS. The pain, stress and frustration can lead to depression: thus depression can often be mistaken as the cause of the illness, not a result of it.
