SPACE (UK, 1163411) Browse events

YTD Raised: £2,806.00

The aim of SPACE is to provide a local, fun, safe and accessible environment in which children with disabilities and additional needs can play. Also opportunities for parents and carers to meet and provide mutual support. The charity has been founded by mums who have children with disabilities and additional needs. Through our own experience we have found that there is very little support for families with young children with disabilities/additional needs and locally there are no accessible play areas. Our goal is to increase the support and opportunities through continuing to provide our 'stay and play', 'little stars' and parent support sessions. We aim to raise enough money to open our own centre so that we can support more children and their families.

Bags full of Love is a charity operating in West Dunbartonshire for children in foster and kinship care. We provide children coming in to foster/ kinship care with a backpack filled with new essential items and clothing so that the carer does not have to rush out shopping and can spend time getting to know the child in their care, this also gives the child a chance to settle in their new home and have new items just for them which gives them some comfort on probably the worst day of their lives. Feedback from carers and social workers has been extremely positive as going through the bag makes the child more relaxed in their new environment. We also run events throughout the year and have a Christmas party planned for this year and hopefully next Easter a day trip. Holding these events also gives the children the chance to meet other children who are going through the same as them and helps them understand they are not alone.
