Groundswell exists to enable homeless people to take more control of their lives, have a greater influence on services and play a fuller role in our community. Our core beliefs are that effectively tackling homelessness benefits the whole community, and utilising the knowledge and experience of people affected by these issues is the only way to tackle them. We develop and deliver innovative projects that put people with lived experience of homelessness at the heart of the solutions – focusing on participation, research and health.Groundswell’s multi award-winning Homeless Health Peer Advocacy service provides one-to-one support for homeless people to attend health appointments. Delivered by formerly homeless volunteers who build trusting relationships with homeless people others find ‘hard to reach’. HHPA reduces use of A&E, missed appointments and hospital admissions; resulting in improved health and NHS savings. We simply couldn’t deliver our work without the very generous support from our community. Your support will enable us to help homeless people to access life-saving healthcare, and to progress their lives beyond homelessness, towards employment. Next year we will expand our work to support the growing numbers of homeless people across England, and support more formerly homeless volunteers to progress.
