(UK, 1057024) Browse eventsWe support the unpaid carers in Coventry and Warwickshire who look after friends or family members who are elderly, have a disability or are frail due to poor health. Caring is often a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week role. This can often have a detrimental effect on the carers own health. For this reason we aim to offer the carer a break by taking their place and looking after their loved one for a short while. This gives carers the time to catch up with chores, take part in a recreational activity or even just relax for a short time. This short while to 'recharge' can help prevent the decline in the carers health.
(UK, 1119259) Browse eventsWe are a family run charity set up in memory of Brian Cross who lost his battle with a brain tumour in 2006. Every penny you donate will go towards brain tumour research and giving hope to those struggling with this debilitating disease. Brian Cross died on the 23rd September 2006 at the age of 62 from a tumour in his brain stem. He had intensive chemo and radiotherapy but after 12 months of treatment he lost his battle with the rare brain cancer.Brian was an amazing husband, wonderful father and a loyal, generous friend. He was loved, admired and respected and was a part of so many people’s lives. During his illness we discovered how little there was known about brain tumours and Brian was particularly upset by the number of children he met in Addenbrookes suffering with brain tumours. Although they are responsible for the largest number of cancer deaths in both children and adults under forty, just 1% of the National budget for cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. In the 10 years since we lost Brian, we have been raising awareness and vital funds for brain tumour research. We don’t have any overheads so every penny we raise goes straight to research projects and so far we have raised just over £760,000. Thank you to everyone for their continued support.Sally Cross, wife of Brian Charity No: 1119259 Find out more Website http://www.briancrossmemorialtrust.co.uk/

This team are paged by the PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland) to respond to potential suicide attempts and incidents in and around the river. This team also acts as a body recovery team who search for any person missing in the river and recover the body with the greatest dignity. We facilitate the North West Bereaved by Suicide Support Group for families and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide and are also involved in education on water safety and suicide awareness within our local community.
