Wherever The Need (UK, 1070826) Browse events

YTD Raised: £4,563.50

Wherever the Need is the only UK charity that puts sanitation first. Clean water is also vitally important to help save lives, but without efective sanitation in place, water supplies continue to become contaminated. Its not just us that says this - research has shown that the installation of ‘improved sanitation’ shows a reduction in illness by an average of 32%, whereas an improved water supply only does so by 6%. We provide ecologically sustainable composting toilets which are long-lasting, and provide valuable fertiliser which can be used on crops. With proper sanitation in place, we then make sure there is clean drinking water available. With both sanitation and water in place, peoples health vastly improves, enabling them to maintain employment and stay in education. Our last step is to create livelihood programmes where they are needed, so people have the opportunity for sustained employment. Good health and an income leads to a route out of poverty, and that is what we are all about!

The fund raising events provide opportunity for parents, staff and children to work and socialise together for the benefit of the whole school.  Please donate to support our cause.Mr Woodward, a parent at Jarvis Brook School, has kindly taken on the task of raising funds for a fence to enclose the school field. The school site is on many levels and for many years the children and staff, for things like Sports Day, have managed the location of the field without incident; however to have a fence enclosing the field safely would really enhance the children’s experience whilst outside. We place a huge emphasis on the importance of enjoying the outside environment and a fence to surround the field would help the school to make more use of the field for both PE and clubs improving the children’s overall experience and well-being enormously. This project will have a long term beneficial effect on future generations of children at Jarvis Brook School!  Charity No: 1014965
