Friend to Friend is a registered charity in rural South Kirklees, West Yorkshire. Our aim is to work with older people to enable them to improve their quality of life, combat loneliness and reduce isolation. We do this by providing a range of stimulating volunteer led  activities in accessible local venues. This includes Armchair Exercise, ‘Mobility Aid Friendly’ Walking Groups, Lunches, a Men’s Group, Activity Groups and Monthly Get-Togethers. All our members receive a regular newsletter. The result? - or so our members tell us, is; a less lonely, happier, healthier older age.

Project Bo will purchase, install and maintain a 20kW solar and battery system to provide an uninterrupted 24/7 power supply to the oxygen concentrators and baby warmers at Bo Government Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). With the support of donors, we can bring an end to babies needlessly dying simply because oxygen or heat were not available.Bo is the third largest city in Sierra Leone and home to about half a million people, most of whom live below the poverty line.  It also has one of the world’s worst infant mortality rates. Only 13% of the population receives power and many areas have no grid access at all. Frequent power blackouts and sparse and sporadic coverage greatly hinders the healthcare system from providing basic care. Furthermore Ebola has severely impacted the health care system care for neonates is particularly challenging An average of 17 babies die each month at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. That’s approximately 25% of all babies admitted.  One of the main causes of death is the unreliable power supply - an issue we should be able to solve through our combined expertise.  ProjectBo is a project of the Liebreich Foundation.
