Kaana was founded in response to the growing number of babies and young children living on the streets of Kampala and other towns in Eastern Uganda. This journey began in 2008 after an article highlighted the plight of street children, particularly those from the Karamojong community. What started as a Christmas outreach for street children quickly revealed a much deeper crisis affecting mothers and children from one of Uganda’s most marginalised regions.(Karamoja) Kaana initially focused on supporting Karamojong mothers to become economically self sufficient and on strengthening community support in Karamoja to prevent children from ending up on the streets. This work helped reduce street begging and restore dignity and stability for many families. Today, Kaana is expanding its mission to support children suffering from cancer and those living with their mothers in prison, ensuring they receive care, protection, and a chance for a better future. Our work is driven by compassion, long term solutions, and the belief that no child belongs on the streets or behind bars.

We aim to inspire Jewish life that is meaningful, relevant and supportive in today’s world, while remaining welcoming to people of all backgrounds, ages and levels of observance. Our activities span the whole life cycle, including early years provision through our nursery, religious education and Bar/Bat Mitzvah programmes, youth clubs, holiday activities, uniformed groups, adult learning, social groups and a dedicated day centre for older members. These programmes foster lifelong learning, wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging. Charitable care is at the heart of our work. In recent years, this has included online services, learning and social spaces, as well as community networks focused on wellbeing, mental health and practical help. EHRS is powered by a committed team of clergy, staff and hundreds of volunteers who work together to create a caring, purpose-driven community. We are a church seeking to encourage, enable and equip individuals in their Christian faith and to serve our local area by sharing life, doing mission and building community. In John 10:10, Jesus says that he has 'come so that they can have life and have it to the full'. LMC wants to encourage everyone to share that life of faith to the full. LMC strives to be a church that supports mission and builds community. We feel this grows from our faith, exampled by Jesus in John 15:12: 'My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.' You will be made very welcome whether you join us for a Sunday service, in Wesley’s café or at one of our other events. We are proud to be part of the Methodist Church UK, standing on that heritage of preaching the gospel, social justice and a welcome for all. Whilst Cumbria is well known for the Lake District and our lakes and mountains it is the county with the greatest diversity of semi-natural habitat. By supporting Cumbria Wildlife Trust you will help fund the management of over 3,000 hectares of nature reserves in Cumbria, which include ancient woodlands, flower-rich meadows, extensive dune systems, limestone pavements and outstanding wetland habitats. I hope you agree, something that is very important to do in a county with more sites of national and international importance than any other county in England. At Cumbria Wildlife Trust we are committed to creating whole landscapes that are rich in wildlife to safeguard threatened species and habitats. Please will you help us to achieve this.

(UK, 1133405) Browse eventsSNAPS is an independent, Leeds based, registered charity founded in 2004 and run by parents of children with special needs, disabilities and life limiting illnesses. Families of children with special needs with one or more complex health condition face significant barriers to mainstream leisure, social and employment opportunities. SNAPS address this by providing non judgmental “whole family” based support and currently reach more than 350 families from across the Yorkshire Region. SNAPS gives each and every child, their parents and carers, unconditional friendship and is dedicated to realising the full potential of each and every family affected by disability. Many of Snaps families with children have life limiting and complex disabilities, many sadly do not live past their 10th year, therefore every day is precious. Snaps is unique in that it allows any family with a disability to benefit from its services without the requirement of a completed disability assessment as this can take years and can involve more than 100 professionals. This can mean that parents are unable to seek any statutory support, even if this were available. Through taking part in “whole family” centred activities, we challenge and reduce social exclusion, by working in collaboration with current and fledgling community groups, immobilising and sharing community support aimed at improving health, fitness and social inclusion of families of children with disabilities, special needs, and complex life limiting health conditions. Every penny raised for SNAPS is gratefully received and frugally spent running practical services, directly benefiting Yorkshire families. Snaps is largely staffed by an army of volunteers and parents who give their time generously to provide vital services.Funding is crucial to enable us to continue our service and meet the needs of a long waiting list of more than 100 parents, desperately seeking to access our life changing service. We are truly grateful for support.
