Heart Care is a local charity that has been helping the people of Walsall and surrounding areas for over 30 years. We provide a rehabilitation programme for people that suffer from heart and lung disease and also run a weight management programme. The West Midlands is the worst area in the country for adult obesity, which can lead to the development of heart disease and diabetes. At Heart Care we are helping people to prevent and recover from these conditions, but we need your help to enable us to continue to provide our unique service for the people of Walsall. Heart Care continues to help thousands of patients with heart problems per year; we had 838 referrals in 2013 alone for our Cardiac Rehabilitation programme. The amount of people’s live Heart Care touches each year is huge and we are in constant need of fundraising efforts to support this. Heart Care relies very heavily on fundraising and thus your contributions and help can mean the world of difference to our patients and the facilities we provide.

EDP is a small UK based charity which offers FEE FREE senior secondary education at the Awutu-Winton Senior High School  to disadvantaged but academically able youngsters in Awutu, 50 miles west of Accra in Ghana. EDP believes that education is the only route out of poverty and despair, and it is the gift no child in our world should be denied!   In Ghana only 45% of the population attends senior secondary school – costing close to 35% of the average per capita GDP,  it is way beyond the financial reach of the majority. Therefore, EDP Directors David and Inez Lunan joined with founder Peter Donkor (a Ghanaian teacher formerly at Winton School in Andover) to address the educational needs of youth in the Awutu area by building the Awutu-Winton Senior High School. WHAT IS HOME-START? Home-Start offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children, in local communities throughout the UK and with British Forces in Germany and Cyprus. Home-Start offers a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers who are usually parents themselves, to visit families at home who have at least one child under 5 and offer informal, friendly and confidential support. To help give children the best possible start in life, Home-Start supports parents as they grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children and widen their links with the local community. Whilst all Home-Start schemes are guided by the same principles, each is an autonomous unit, individually registered with the Charities Commission, and with their own local management committee responsible for their own funding. Home-Start, Epsom Ewell and Banstead has its office in Great Tattenhams and supports over fifty volunteers who visit and support local families in need.

The mission of Extra Cover is to help some of Sri Lanka’s poorest school children grow up with hope. It provides basic essentials – from food and clean water to toilets and textbooks – to 24 extremely poor jungle schools in the south of the island. As funds allow, it also builds extra classrooms, installs playground equipment, runs tea and cinnamon-growing cooperatives, and oversees vocational schools. In 2014 Extra Cover have opened 2 special education units to cater for children with all types of disabilities. They will be working closely with local government to provide education for those who have not had the opportunity in the past.
