(UK, 1011413) 47% of babies born with Downs Syndrome also have congenital heart problems. Downs Heart Group provides parent friendly support and information to their families to enable them to make informed decisions about their childs future. We then support them every step of the way throughout life, being available whenever they need us. Our staff and the majority of our volunteers and trustees have direct links with someone who has Downs Syndrome and heart problems and they use their considerable personal experience to benefit other families. EVERY donation is valuable to us and helps us continue the work we have been doing for over 20 years, supporting a better life for people with Down's Syndrome and being there whenever we are needed.

YTD Raised: £0.00Whilst it should be taken as read that the charity's objective is the promotion of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, this specific appeal is to raise funds for the repair of the roof and spire of this well known local landmark. The 5 yearly inspection of the Church building in 2014 recommended essential work be carried out urgently, in particular to "monitor lead roofs and consider replacement before whole sale problems occur". There are regular leaks in wet weather. The PCC have decided to commit £100,000 from our reserves. The Fiends of St. Mary's have committed a further £125,000, but this still leaves us £135,000 short (even with VAT recovery) of the estimated total of £451,000. SS Freshspring is a unique small coasting steamship and represents the type of ships which plied their trade around the coast of Britain from late 19th century to the 1960's SS freshspring is the last potentially operational example of these ships. The trust has aims to promote careers in the maritime sector and in engineering. We work with young people from Primary age, through to University or whilst in employment. We have an additional focus to inspire disadvantaged young people and to provide skills required to enter rewarding employment.
