A Leeds-based charity providing live music experiences for families. We run early years music classes, intergenerational singing sessions, award-winning Mini-Gigs, singing for post-natal depression work, specialist music work for families with a disabled family member and we develop workshops and performances with and for festivals or specialist groups. A donation of £5 could pay for a child to attend one of our weekly early years music classes. We offer free and subsidised places to families who are unable to pay. A donation of £10 could pay for a specialist instrument for a child to use in music workshops in the hospital or at a family support group. A donation of £25 could pay for a family ticket to a fully accessible Mini-Gig. We offer free and subsidised places to families who are unable to pay. A donation of £50 could contribute towards a music session for new mums with postnatal depression. Singing has been shown to speed up recovery. Shutlanger Village Hall is raising money to help with its upkeep and renovation. Shutlanger Village Hall is a beautiful building in our Village with a colourful history, it has been used as a school, it has a chapel attached to it which is used monthly. It is also one of the only amenities of our village being used for hire of parties, however more importantly it is a venue where the community gets together for social events such as coffee mornings quiz night and keep fit classes.
Our Warm Welcome (OWW) St Helens offers friendship and practical support to new asylum seekers and refugees by helping them to integrate into our community - we call these people "Our "Friends". We have raised funds to set up a regular meeting place that welcomes "Our Friends" and facilitates links with professionals – such as the British Red Cross - who offer support. We also teach basic English skills and distribute clothing, household items and food as needs require.
