YTD Raised: £0.00A huge THANK YOU for visiting our page!! Edirisa UK supports a small community in South Western Uganda. We are working to improve the lives of the local people, focusing on education, health and sanitation, the provision of clean water and sustainable enterprise. We began by funding a primary school on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and have extended our activities to include building and running 4 nursery schools, renovating 5 primary schools, establishing a special needs education centre where 70 children board, installing over 50 water harvesting tanks in the community and are building a clinic on Bwama Island at Lake Bunyonyi. Through our volunteer programme we run workshops in the primary schools and nurseries, supporting the teachers and improving the learning environment. Volunteers also take part in community focus groups and a variety of other activities. We support sustainable projects for local communities, craft making, bee-keeping, vegetable gardens and orchards as we believe in a “hand up” not a “hand out”.

Run solely by volunteers HRR tries to make a hospital stay slightly easier by bringing a bit of entertainment to patients, visitor and staff. HRR has been bringing music and entertainment to patients atReading’s hospitals since it started in 1957. Now based in the Royal Berkshirehospital, our volunteers spend time meeting and talking to patients andentertaining them over the radio. HRR has a huge variety of live and speciallyrecorded programming ranging from our patient request shows which are thebackbone of the schedule through to live football commentary, specialist musicshows and celebrity interviews. As well a making a stay in the hospital somewhatmore cheerful, we provide training for member of the community in the skills surroundingradio broadcast. The Centre provides everyday essentials like food, clothes and access to accommodation for its students, helping them to put and end to their life on the streets, and to finish their education in a safe environment. Founded in 2006, NDCC has grown from caring for 12 children to supporting over 60, and now employs nine local staff. 100% of the money we raise goes to the project in Ethiopia, making sure that all of our students get the care they deserve and that every donation really does make a difference. YTD Raised: n/aBoth of the Gulf Wars impacted heavily on the Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq having a lasting & devastating effect on its people, society & infrastructure. This is very evident in Kurdistan's health care system which is conspicuously worse than southern Iraq. Vast numbers of doctors were amongst the many thousands of people who had to flee the Saddam regime & this left a huge void in the number of suitably qualified & experienced surgeons. Prof Deiary Kader was one of these people. He was eventually able to return to his homeland in 2010 & he realised that he and his colleagues could help fill the void with regard to Orthopaedic services. Hence, NGMV was born. Our volunteers give their time freely to visit Iraqi Kurdistan. They deliver orthopaedic care to local people who have no other means of access to this type of healthcare which is given free of charge and without discrimination. Since 2010 more than 80 members have made the bi-annual trips. We have treated over 2000 patients in clinic & performed more than 300 surgical operations of the hip and knee. Unlike the big international charities, NGMV has no management overheads so all donations go directly into funding travel & equipment for our trips. We aim to continue our bi-annual visits in order to provide timely & specialist care to the people of the area but we need your help to do this. YTD Raised: n/aLady Margaret School PTA (LMS PTA) is based at Lady Margaret School (LMS) in Parsons Green, Fulham in London. The school is a Church of England secondary school for girls with approximately 750 pupils and 90 staff. The school became an academy in 2012. The PTA seeks to foster positive relations between staff and parents and to enrich the daily lives of students. The PTA does this by fostering good communications between all parents and staff as well as raising money to fund items not covered by statutory resources. The PTA contributes in many ways to enhance the sense of community within school. The PTA is run entirely by volunteers with a Steering Committee who are elected at the AGM. There are also large teams of parents who take on specific tasks and responsibilities, such as the Christmas Fair and Garden Party Committee, Class Representatives, Parent Communicator/Co-ordinator, Data Base Co-ordinator, Induction Day Team and Staff Teas.
