This grass roots charity helps the most impoverished people of Cambodia who suffered the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge. The charity helps over 15,000 people made up of more than 3,000 families in 8 villages. Please see www.nkfc.org for more information. The Nginn Karet Foundation for Cambodia exists in order to help village people in Cambodia to secure their basic needs, through a partnership program. Focusing initially on one village, the Foundation supports village people to secure their basic needs, including primary education. Primary health care systems are supported so as to enable mothers to produce appropriate food for their families, based on locally grown cereals, vegetables, fruit and fish. The provision of potable water and the control of local water supplies to village fields for crop and livestock production is a priority. Ownership of the program lies with the village people. The Foundation respects and tries to promote the traditional culture on which village life is based, within the context of sustainable development for basic needs.

West Cheshire College is a vocational College serving the communities and surrounding areas of Chester and Ellesmere Port. Students in the College are strongly encouraged to make a positive contribution to the community both through the curriculum and their own "personal challenges". The College works with reputable partners in supporting students to take part in life changing opportunities in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. The West Cheshire College Student Volunteer Fund has been started to enable more students to benefit from these significant volunteering and personal challenge events and it has been set up at a time when alternative forms of funding are becoming much harder to access. Eligible students will be learning at West Cheshire College and will have already have a track record of volunteering in the local community. They will have achieved their initial personal challenges and will be looking to extend their horizons further. By supporting this Fund you will be helping our students to make a difference to their lives - and also to make a difference to the communities in which they will volunteer. 'Home-Start North Down reaches out to over 100 local families every year - recruiting and training volunteers to support parents with young children at home. We support families who are struggling to cope because of illness, isolation, mental health, lone parenting, bereavement, domestic violence, disability, multiple birth or multiple children under school age. Home-Start North Down’s work is simple, cost effective and it works. As one of our parents put it, ‘...you have given me friendship, help, advice and the support I really needed. Before Home-Start my life was in turmoil. I suffered from depression, low self-esteem, no confidence and I felt isolated ….. I had hit rock bottom. Home-Start helped kick-start the beginnings of a new chapter in my life’
