It stands as the spiritual home for everyone in the parish where many people celebrate the big events in the lives of their families and friends. Evercreech is situated three miles south east of the town of Shepton Mallet and five miles north east of the town of Castle Cary in the foothills of the Mendip hills in Somerset. The present parish church of St Peter, Evercreech in the Diocese of Bath & Wells dates from the 14th century although it is known that there was a church on this site from at least 1178 AD. The spectacular tower dates from the 15th century and is described by Pevsner as ‘among the county’s most thrilling and distinctive architectural landmarks’.
