(UK, SC035122) Browse eventsYaknak Projects is a small Scottish charity that runs two childrens homes in Nepal. Kapan House and Banglamukhi House are situated on the outskirts of Kathmandu and are each home to eight boys, Ama (Nepali mum) and Didi (big sister). The boys were previously living on the streets of Kathmandu or were displaced by civil war and unable to return home to their villages. They now live in safe, family-style homes, are well cared for and attend local schools. Yaknak was set up by four friends in 2004 and needs just £16,000 a year to run both houses. That pays for food, clothing, healthcare, school fees, social activities and salaries for their live in carers and house manger, all locally recruited Nepalis. Every penny we raise goes directly on the project. Every penny you give will make a huge difference to the boys. Thank you!

(UK, 1116097) Browse eventsNutrition plays a pivotal role in health. There is a gap in the nutritional status of most people today, which an apparently wholesome, balanced diet may fail to correct. This worldwide problem is severe in Africa. Even when a person consumes adequate calories and protein, if they lack one single micronutrient or a combination of vitamins and minerals, their immune system is compromised and infections take hold. HETN aims to research and apply appropriate nutritional intervention in the prevention and management of disease. Our projects include crèche feeding, nutritional support for orphans, vulnerable children and people living with AIDS and TB.

(UK, 1115587) Browse eventsWhen you think of the Caribbean, thoughts turn to sun, sea and relaxation and for the fortunate this is an idyllic way of life. However, the people of the Caribbean require more than this to allow them a minimal standard of living. In reality they are often without the basic necessities that we take for granted, for example - running water, electricity, clothes etc. In many cases the young of the Islands are unable to obtain good educational and reading books, adequate clothing and shoes, bedding for babies and young children and educational toys that will help them grow into strong adults with the necessary abilities to help them achieve a better future for their own families. The objectives at CAMDY are to help and support these youngsters, by providing these valuable items for some children in the Caribbean. The most beneficial way of achieving this is by forwarding via air freight a range of good quality donated items from the UK. Additionally this has proved an effective action to help minimise landfill sites in the Britain by reducing waste. By helping and supporting CAMDY you will be making the future bright for our own children and on the Islands of the Caribbean.

West London Family Church has operated from the same site for close to 100 years with a focus on supporting children, young people and disadvantaged groups in our local community. We are a UK registered charity (limited company). We come from over 15 nations, and share our buildings with South East Asian and South American congregations. We work in multi year partnerships with both secular and faith based community organisations. We are respectful of the diversity in the communities we serve. For 10 years we have utilised an international method of storytelling and community building based on the Godly Play® tradition and now have a number of trained storytellers. Our storytelling practice is from the Montessori tradition allowing room for self-expression and exploration, both verbally and in the creative response times. We work within a set framework to provide safe places for children, youth and adults to explore their stories within the context of community stories shared from a Christian worldview. Although many of these stories are shared by the great faiths they also have meaning and provide room for those of no or little faith. We are hoping to raise enough funds to enable a team to offer 7 days of storytelling to promote community cohesion abroad with groups including refugee children. We hope to inspire the countries we visit develop their own Godly Play® communities. Please join us for a story telling marathon on the weekend of the 23/24th June 2017.
