Crossroads Care Manchester is a a leading provider of support for carers and people they care for in the city of Manchester and Tameside. We work with over 400 familes and individuals, helping carers find time for themselves through the provision of high quality care packages, including personal care to people with highly complex needs. We provide the special quality of care that gives our clients the peace of mind to let someone else step in to their shoes and support the person they love. As a charity we value the support of the communities in which we work so that we can reach out to more carers. The more individuals and companies that can donate funds or time to help us, the more people we can support. People like Eddie and Dot. Dot had been Eddies carer for over 30 years when she was taken into hospital to have a knee replacement. All of a sudden the tables were turned and it was Dot who needed care for herself and reassusrance that Eddie would be looked after too. Crossroads were there for Eddie when Dot was in hospital, and are still there for both Eddie and Dot now that Dot has returned home. Our care will continue until Dot is fully recovered. There are thousands of people in the Manchester area just like Eddie and Dot who really need your help. Thank you, your support really makes a difference.

Medway Youth Trust (UK, 1124219) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

We have a zest for making a meaningful difference to young people’s life chances. Help us to achieve our goal! We are Medway Youth Trust, a charity with big aspirations for young people and our community. Our mission is quite unashamedly bold; to improve the life chances of young people. Every young person is unique. Whether a young person is achieving and living within a supportive family or whether they are struggling and face multiple barriers to their progression, they all require support and challenge to become the best they can be. So, we provide both open access and more targeted support. We provide vital support to some of the most vulnerable young people in our society; for example young homeless people, young people not attending school, looked after children, young parents and young people in custody. We provided support to young people who are trying to cope with a difficult experience; for example bereavement, relationship breakdown at home, and bullying. But we also provide support for gifted and talented young people who are unsure about their own aspirations. It is absolutely key to our charity’s work we are independent and impartial of any statutory agency because it means that the activities, information, support, guidance and advice we provide to young people is in their best interests and relevant to their lives, skills and aspirations. We also provide programmes which re-engageme young people, we help them develop employability skills and we work with employers to create work for young people. We help young parents get back in to learning and we provide small grants to young people in or leaving care where a little money can make a big difference. Young people are at the heart of our charity with two young Trustees, in addition to a young people's forum. We have a saying within Medway Youth Trust... "we start at the ends". We know the end results we seek to achieve. We are dedicated to achieving them. We need you to help!

Rapid Aid Community First Responders (UK, 1135529) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Rapid Aid community First Responders, are based in Middleton near Tamworth, Staffordshire. We serve the community as a voluntary organisation that provides support to West Midlands Ambulance service, by responding to 999 calls with the area we cover. When a patient dials 999, we are dispatched by the emergency operations centre to commence treatment prior to the arrival of an ambulance. As we are based in the local community we can arrive on scene sooner than an ambulance, this can be invaluable in cases of cardiac arrest. We are never sent instead of an ambulance always in addition to the ambulance. The area we cover expands throughout Middleton, Tamworth, drayton Bassett, Bassets Pole, Sutton Coldfield, Chelmsley Wood, Coleshill, Water Orton, Curdworth, Kingsbury, Lea Marston and many more surrounding areas. All this cover doesnt come cheap though, with the increase in fuel prices and VAT it costs nearly £800 per month just to keep the vehicles on the road. We are always looking for donations, sponsorship and support from the general public and local businesses. If you feel you could help in any way then please contact us (details below). Rapid-Aid is a registered charity and as such all funds are gained from donations or fundraising events. Each responder volunteers their own time to respond to 999 emergencies. Please help us to help you.

Brunswick Youth And Community Centre (UK, 1130227) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Brunswick Youth & Community Centre has a unique history. It was conceived in a World War II Prisoner of War Camp called OFLAG 79 in Brunswick, Germany, where a group of British officers considered their boredom and deprivation and realised that theirs was a situation familiar to young people in the cities of their homeland; young people for whom there existed few diversions and little prospect for escape. They resolved that on their release they would encourage young people to adopt the Brunswick Spirit to fight limitations and restraints imposed by their social environment, learn respect for one another and take the future into their own hands. Amongst these determined British officers were Michael Marshall, Philip Evans and Harry Mounsey, who upon their release from Oflag 79 camp fulfilled their promises and established the Brunswick Boys Club in Liverpool in 1948 To this day, the spirit of the Brunswick is undiminished. The Brunswick relocated to Marsh Lane, Bootle in 1964 and then redeveloped the centre in 1995 which has now become a landmark and community hub that every one knows as “The Brunny”. The Brunswick offers a wide range of services to support all elements of our community from general, open access centre-based junior and senior youth and community provision, Mothers and toddlers group and Ofsted Registered after schools provision, off site outreached and detached youth work and residential trips, to special projects and involvement in local regeneration initiatives, crime prevention measures and youth involvement in local decision making processes, intergenerational projects promoting community cohesion and the integration of different social group, pensioners social group and accredited training for all ages and social back grounds. The Brunswick also offers support for community and residents voices forums, and support for police and community engagement forums, and is currently developing a community garden.

The Orkney Drugs Dog is a new charity which aims to provide a drugs dog for the county.Following concerns originally raised by the Community Safety Partnership around the level of drug misuse and abuse, and the disruption caused to family life in the county, Orkney Drugs Dog has been set up to provide drugs education and detection services in Orkney. The main aim of the charity is to provide education and awareness in local schools and Orkney College. The dog and handler will also provide detection support to Police Scotland, for example at ferry and air ports and in other areas where local detection is required. For the past year, and more, the Steering Group have been working closely with Voluntary Action Orkney, the Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Police Scotland and Shetland’s Dogs Against Drugs team. Two new posts will be created in support of the initiative: a Development Officer, who will source future funding, and a specialist Dog Handler. Once these posts are filled, we will then be in a position to search for a suitable dog to become our Drugs Detection Dog.Once the handler and dog are in position they will head south for full training and Home Office licencing. They will then prepare to become ready for educational duties in our schools and our College and operationally ready for drugs detection under a partnership agreement with Police Scotland. We are looking forward to them being out and about in the community, on the streets and into our educational and residential establishments in order to get the dog used to being in among the public in a variety of situations and we hope that the public embrace this initiative fully.
