Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. We sponsor research to bring about change in how women and girls are dealt with in the criminal justice system. There are many women in prison, either on remand waiting to go to court or serving sentences for minor, non-violent offences, for whom prison is both disproportionate and inappropriate. Many of them suffer poor physical and mental health or substance abuse, or both. Large numbers have endured violent or sexual abuse or had chaotic childhoods. Many have been in care. Men and women are different and with a system almost entirely geared towards men, we need to radically change how we deal with women throughout the whole criminal justice system. For over ten years the Society’s Research Fellowships have turned a spotlight on how women and girls are treated to bring about much needed change. From 25th June, our Director is rowing 171 miles down the Thames to raise funds for the charity. Follow her progress on twitter (@mascltd) and please sponsor her row. mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/christineannleeson1 Charity No: 1034571 Find out more Website http://www.thegriffinssociety.org Twitter https://twitter.com/mascltd
