Babyzone (UK, 1198316) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Babyzone aims to support to families with babies and toddlers. We’re focused on breaking down the barriers that many parents face in accessing high quality early years activities. Babyzones are currently delivered each week in Youth Zones where we run free exploratory play and evidence-based early years classes in a clean, safe and welcoming environment. We design our approach around the needs of lower income families but are open to all. Parents don’t sign up in advance, there’s no timetable and we don’t take names and personal details from our families. We believe that by removing barriers we are creating a fully accessible, inclusive place for parents and carers to bring their children to play, read, chat and sing together. We’re an ambitious charity working with OnSide Youth Zones, local partners and backed by philanthropists. We reach between 250-300 families per week across both Babyzones. Around 60% of the families who visit us come from lower income families. We want to reach more of the families who need us around the country. We’ll do this by creating more Babyzones, but also by showing others how we’ve removed barriers to access.

We support young people (13-25 years old) with their mental health and emotional well-being. • We offer accessible community-based support within the Cambridgeshire area. • Support includes evidence-based practice along with a range of alternative/holistic therapies. A Mindful Paws provides a range of user friendly interventions and projects. We pride ourselves on treating young people holistically and have developed a range of creative interventions, based on the feedback we have had from young people. The young people have told us that the current services available to them can seem too formal which often creates a barrier to accessing support. With this in mind, we currently offer the following: - Canine-Assisted Therapy with Carrie who is an experienced mental health nurse (in CAMHS) offering group and individual sessions assisted by her therapy dogs Leo and Barnaby utilising established therapeutic interventions such as DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy). - Mindfulness and Individual therapy provided by Jo who is a mental health nurse (in CAMHS) and qualified mindfulness practitioner. Jo provides mindfulness training to groups and individuals alongside talking therapies. - Claire is an experienced youth support worker who provides social group support utilising creative methods such as, art and craft, cooking and games tailored to meet the young people's particular needs and interests.
