LAMB Health Care Foundation (UK, 1101217) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

None shall be turned away is the pledge of LAMB hospital in rural North West Bangladesh.               We raise money for a poor fund so that no-one is turned away from treatment because of their poverty. It is well known locally that LAMB treats people first and deals with finance later, and so the poor come to LAMB. Every penny of donations received by LHCF goes to LAMB; as our small administrative costs are borne by our Trustees. The LAMB project runs a network of 25 clinics and safe delivery units, and a 150 bed hospital. They help an average of 460 outpatients a day. It also provides health care to the 1. 5 million poor in the surrounding villages, using more than 400 trained village health volunteers to raise awareness of how illness can be prevented. One of its proudest achievements is to decrease the number of mothers and children dying in childbirth to half the national level in this area, but there is much more to be done! In addition to clinical services LAMB’s work includes: community dvelopment; working to improve women’s rights and to reduce violence against women; training community midwives; and improving the health and education of children with disabilities.

YTD Raised: £0.00

Nawaal Benevolence Fund is a London based charity helping poor and needy individuals and families in Hackney, Waltham Forest, Newham and other close by areas. The Nawaal Fund is a registered local charity which aims to use zakat and sadaqah donated from locals to provide financial assistance to poor and needy individuals living in Hackney, Newham and Waltham Forrest. Our vision is to endeavour to provide for the essential and basic needs of locals by attempting to obtain donations from the local community, thereby creating a bond between local zakat/sadqah donors and our local needy. We feel it is essential that whilst giving financial donations to aid international relief efforts and the poor around the world, locals also have a religious and communal responsibility to help vulnerable people who live literally outside our own doorsteps. Appin Community Development Trust (UK, SC047073) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Appin Community Development Trust is a small, community based charity set up in 2017 by a group of local volunteers to help improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life for residents in this remote rural area on the north west coast of Argyll. Our mission is to help Appin be a vibrant, sustainable, resilient and inclusive community for all who live and work here. We do this through local consultation and group working to identify opportunities for the development of services and facilities to meet the needs of local people. We are a very elderly community so early projects have included setting up a community transport scheme (there are no public transport services) and a locally run care at home service (we are too remote for commercial providers). We are also developing projects to encourage and support young working families to come and make Appin their home, providing new facilities (playpark, community garden) and infrastructure for sports and recreation activities, including restoration of the old boathouse. We pull together a great range of volunteer skills and time commitments but do also need funding to deliver and sustain our work. We greatly value all the help and support we receive.
