Until now, the donations were made from private individuals, but over the years, our work and ideas have developed and expanded. MOLA's dynamic public engagement initiatives, research projects and educational programmes unlock new knowledge and strengthen communities through fostering a sense of place and identity. Our aim is to stimulate enquiry and promote active discovery through participation and partnership, widening access to and appreciation of the value of heritage. We work with researchers, experts and a dedicated volunteer team to help local people to explore and understand their own heritage, working on archaeological projects and investigating the thousands of artefacts and data that we have in our care at any one time. The flagship foreshore, coastal and intertidal archaeology projects, the Thames Discovery Programme and CITiZAN (Coastal and Inter-Tidal Zone Archaeology Network), coordinate the invaluable efforts of over 500 volunteers. Our volunteers capture unique records of the archaeological structures and finds along these fragile areas that are under threat of active erosion and loss. None of this work would be possible without the help of our supporters, and we are very grateful for your donations.
